Local swimming clubs are struggling
Belgian swimming experienced a boom at the Rio Games, but then a black hole followed. The federation is now determined to climb out of the valley and the local clubs play an important role in this. They track down talents and guide them until they are ready for the next step. It seems like an obvious task, but the clubs still face a lot of difficulties. For example, many swimming pools close their doors permanently and in the swimming pools that do remain open, it is a struggle for several hours. And then you still have to find the people who want to walk past that bath day in and day out. The clubs are begging for help and support. We visited the swimming pool of Ostend, Bruges and Torhout.
