Local “Ständige Austausch” Schröder photos removed from menus

The popular Berlin Kölsch bar “Ständige agency” near the government district removes all photos of former chancellor Gerhard Schröder (SPD) from the menus.

Despite the war in Ukraine, Schröder has not yet distanced himself from Russian head of state Vladimir Putin, said owner Jörn Brinkmann. The media portal “The Pioneer” had previously reported.

According to Brinkmann, the menus will be reprinted – this time without a photo of Schröder and without the short biographical text that was previously also found there.

The pub – short name “StäV” – was founded in 1997 near the then newly created government district in Mitte. It is as popular with politicians as it is with tourists and locals.

So far, the politician’s portraits have adorned the currywurst offered on the menu. Schröder is considered a currywurst fan. The dish was previously found on the menu under the name “Altkanzler-Filet”. This designation should also disappear from the maps.

According to Brinkmann, however, the name can also be found printed on hundreds of plates. Due to the high inventory, these should continue to be used “for the time being”, said the owner.
