The new location of the Design Museum in Den Bosch is still a hot topic. The new museum will most likely be built on the Citadelhof, but there are fifteen social rental homes there. Residents fear that they will have to leave their homes.
Some residents have received a letter, but other residents have heard through the media that the museum wants to move to the Citadelhof. In any case, the ambiguity is no less.
Wil Schreuders is one of the residents who is very concerned. She has lived at the Citadelhof for fifty years. “And I also want to live here for a while, but someone has decided to demolish it,” says Schreuders. “Then an alderman comes along who wants to set up some kind of Design Museum here. I don’t understand.”
Resident Martijn Bouwmans also has no other place. “I wouldn’t know where to go,” said Bouwmans. “We’ve become a close-knit family. A lot of people here have something between them and no one else but their neighbours.”
clarification
The plans are still young. On 15 December, the Design Museum announced its plans to move to the Citadelhof. Bram Roovers, party chairman of the SP Den Bosch, understands little about this.
“The city council has yet to decide on a new location, the residents do not seem to have been well informed and it is already being communicated that this will be the new location. We also immediately asked questions to the alderman for clarification. Unfortunately, we don’t have an answer yet,” says Roovers.
