A local resident helped extinguish a car fire in Koudekerke last night with a garden blow. This prevented worse.

The fire brigade was alerted around 0.21 am for a car fire on the Citherhillsingel in Koudekerke. When the firefighters arrived, it turned out that a local resident had already grabbed a garden hose and started extinguishing the fire. The fire brigade then took over the extinguishing activities.

The vehicle was badly damaged by the fire. For example, the license plate has completely melted away. It is not yet known what caused the rear of the vehicle to catch fire. No suspicious circumstances were found, a police spokesman said.
