The final result was announced in Nijkerk on Tuesday after the recount. PRO21 will therefore drop from six to five seats. The VVD now has four seats.
“Even after the recount, the difference is small, but I have no doubts about the carefulness of the recount,” said Mayor Gerard Renkema, who is also chairman of the central electoral committee.
PRO21 says in a reaction that it is disappointed that the party has to give up a seat. “The recount shows: every vote counts,” said PRO21, which emphasizes its support for openness and transparency. “We put that into practice by discussing the small difference in the provisional result. We were behind that and we are behind that.”
