Just a few days after the unexpected death of Lloyd’s managing director Jörg Wetzel, the Sulingen-based shoe supplier appoints a new member of the management board.
Thomas Schmies will be part of the management of Lloyd and will be responsible for finance, controlling, law, human resources, logistics and IT, Lloyd announced on Thursday. Schmies thus takes over the areas previously managed by Wetzel.
“Even if the sad news from last week will have an impact for a long time to come, it is our responsibility to ensure competent corporate management in the short term,” says Andreas Schaller, spokesman for the management. In the future, Schaller itself will be responsible for e-commerce as part of a holistic bundling of all sales activities.
Schmies is also CFO at Ara AG and is part of the Advisory Board of Lloyd. As a result of these activities, he has been familiar with the shoe supplier for a long time and can take on his new tasks immediately and without any training, according to the announcement.
