Singer Melissa Jefferson, whose stage name is Lizzo, responded to Kanye West’s comments during her concert in Toronto, in which the rap artist accused Lizzo of being indirectly used for the “genocide of black people”.

The comments started when West shared his thoughts on Lizzo’s social media behavior regarding the artist’s weight in an interview with Fox News reporter Tucker Carlson.

– Every time Lizzo publishes a picture of her weight loss, bots and the media say that being overweight is the new goal, West shoots.

West believes that the positive consideration of Lizzo’s body positivity gives a wrong impression to people, especially African-Americans. The media field wants to give the impression that being overweight is a good thing, even though it is actually quite unhealthy and causes health problems.

The artist posted a clip of his concert on Instagram. In the video, the text is projected over her body: my body, my choice.

In her concert, however, Lizzo does not mention West by name, but shifts the focus to herself and her own empowerment.

– I focus on my own, big, dark and beautiful thing, Lizzo says.

Lizzo’s social accounts are full of body-positive pictures and publications where she doesn’t hesitate to show her body. PDO

The singer does not understand why her body and affairs are once again subject to people’s speculation. So he asks his Canadian audience if anyone would like to marry him so he can get dual citizenship.

– Can I stay here in Canada? Who would marry me because of dual citizenship, Lizzo confidently asks her audience.

Lizzo’s comments have made fans and several celebrities cheer for the opening.
