It took almost three years before Lizzo released new things after her album Special. The fresh single “Still Bad” appeared on March 13th. Since then, the singer has had to listen to a lot of criticism of her music. However, it strikes back in a series of posts on “X”.
“You don’t want to listen”
What apparently has been accused for her since the new track is outside: her music has been “too optimistic”.
Her statement: “I think to see and hear a black woman, which makes real music with radical joy, triggers misfortune for people … but I step into the footsteps of Janet, from Funkadelic, from Earth Wind and Fire … Nobody does it for us like me. And I stand by that,” writes the 36-year-old.
In their statements it says: “Imagine that you hear ‘Say it loud i’m black and i’m practiced’ and you say it is too optimistic 😂 imagine you hear ‘hey yah’ and you say it is too pop … what does André say? You don’t want to listen, you just want to hate 🤪.” It refers to André 3000, which is known as half of the HipHop duo Outkast.
In the following posts, Lizzo refers to other black artists: inside from the USA. Among them Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston: “Aretha and Whitney got headwind because they were ‘too pop’, and they continued … and I will do that too.” A little later she writes: “The way this world treats black women is disgusting … Janet is on the black list and now, 20 years later, she calls her music ‘Cute Black Girl Bops’ and gives her flowers …”
Under no circumstances let it down
Hate and criticism are nothing new for Lizzo. Often, however, the focus is not only on their music, but also their appearance. It was only last September that there were numerous discussions on the Internet about whether the artist would consume drugs or use weight loss injections after external changes. In her current postal series, Lizzo also has something to say: “I have no loyalty to hate-are you angry because I have lost weight? Stay angry. You are bitter to make hits? Stay bitter. I am only loyal to love and real people, not the clickbait creatures 😂. “
Ultimately, she ends her statements by encouraging people not to let the Internet get themselves down. You should go to the fresh air so that “this internet shit” does not break you.
New Breakup song with the world
The new song “Still Bad” is the first single release of your upcoming album Love in Real Life, which is due to be released later this year. However, there is still no concrete release date. On “X” she explains that it is a breakup song with the world. “It literally begins that I say: ‘I will throw away my cell phone’, it is a call to act for the negativity that we experience on our cell phones, and how we have to distract and re -host,” said Lizzo on March 17th.

Lizzo’s legal problems
After flashing their request in August 2024, these messages came to drop an upcoming lawsuit for sexual harassment and discrimination. In August 2023, she was accused of creating an enemy work environment and enabling sexual harassment in a strip club in Amsterdam. The American rejected the allegations as “wrong”. In the following months, additional lawsuits were submitted by former dancers and a former hairdresser from Lizzo, which must be negotiated in court below.
In August 2023, three former tour dancers submitted a lawsuit against Lizzo in the inside, in which they denounced sexual assault and hostile working conditions. Lizzo described the allegations as “sensationalized stories”. In March 2024 the lawsuit was set while the appeals were examined.
