Brian May spoke about whether there could be a new album from Queen at some point. And gives hope.

The last queen album with Freddie Mercury’s singing is “Made in Heaven” and was released in 1995, 30 years ago. The album appeared postum after Mercury’s death. The last “real” album, “Innuendo”, is even 34 years old.

In a new interview, Queen guitarist Brian May gives himself vague. But says that he and drummer Roger Taylor are regularly in the recording studio to work on new songs.

“I could now have the beginnings of a queen song right in front of me”

“I think it could happen,” said May about “Mojo” “Both Roger Taylor and I constantly write and come up with new ideas and do things in our studios. I could have the beginnings of a queen song right now. The only question is whether the idea is ripe or not. It is about whether this germ can grow.”

So you couldn’t show anything tangible. But the will to new music from Queen is there. Whether live singer Adam Lambert is being worked on is unclear. Even if, according to Brian May, Jam sessions have always existed with Lambert.

“It’s just that you didn’t hear any of it,” said the guitarist. “It should be so special that we have the feeling that we want to present it to the public.”

Perhaps undiscovered treasures of Freddie Mercury are still in the archive? With “Face it Alone”, for example, a song was excavated with his singing in 2022.

In 2021, Brian May put a record: “In fact, Adam, Roger and I were in the studio. And tried things. Simply because the opportunity arose. But so far we didn’t have the feeling that something we did did the right nerve.”

Queen receive Polar Music Prize – John Deacon reports

Queen, the American jazz musician Herbie Hancock and the Canadian soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan also receive the Polar Music Prize 2025. The award will take place on May 27, 2025 in the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm.

The remaining members Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon were enthusiastic:

“We are very honored to preserve the Polar Music Prize this year. It is unbelievable, thank you very much.”

So that John Deacon, who lives withdrawn, has also been backed up to his old band for many years. If only by statement.
