Livestock traders work together against flooding

When the house and stables of cattle dealer Ewoud Vandenbroele in Noordschote threatened to flood, a spontaneous collaboration arose to prevent the worst. With the water reaching knee height, brothers Ewoud and Jelle Vandenbroele worked together to save the company and the house. “It was tense for a while, but we managed to keep the dam and got everything under control,” said Ewoud.

The past week was a matter of survival. This area on the edge of the Ypres-Yser canal, where livestock traders have been active for generations, had never been flooded before. Fortunately, thanks to the solidarity support of friends and colleagues, a disaster could be prevented.
