Klopp: “We’ll have to wait and see”
Top striker Mohamed Salah has rejected an offer to extend his contract with Liverpool, which expires in 2023, and does not want to hold any new talks before the offer is significantly increased. This is reported by the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano for the newspaper “The Guardians“. Since December there have been no more talks between the 29-year-old Egyptian and his agent Ramy Abbas Issa with the club side. It is basically Salah’s wish to stay in Anfield – just not on the terms offered.
Since his last extension in the summer of 2018, the attacker, who has 27 goals and ten assists in 34 competitive games this season and is only surpassed by five players in the top scorer ranking of the 15 best European leagues, is said to have earned around 200,000 pounds a week, which equates to around €12.5 million annually. Liverpool should be willing to pay around 3 million euros more – too little for Salah.

When asked about his best striker at a press conference on Friday, LFC coach Jürgen Klopp said: “I think Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious and so are we. It’s Mo’s decision. The club has done what it can do. It’s all right. Everything is fine from my point of view. Nothing else happened, no signature, no rejection, we just have to wait and see. All right, no rush.”
For Liverpool, a stall in talks at this point means there is a risk of Salah leaving for free if he is not sold in the summer. If he does not extend, he can officially negotiate with other clubs from January 2023. With a market value of 100 million euros, he is the most valuable player in the world with this contract length.
In principle, it sounds exactly like it did with Emre and Gini.
2 minutes after Klopp’s PK, MO’s agent tweeted out laughing emojis.
In the middle of the hot phase of the season, something like that is super disrespectful.
No idea what Salah wants but in my opinion the agent wants to see the player as Mbappe’s replacement at Paris to cash in properly. …
