Liverpool FC | After Núnez Headbutt: Fouled opponent is threatened

After the red card for an assault on Liverpool’s Darwin Núnez, the fouled Joachim Andersen said he was verbally abused and threatened on social media.

Taking to Instagram, the Premier League club Crystal Palace footballer posted a death threat and insulting messages, writing: “Got maybe 300-400 messages like this last night. I understand you guys support your team but have a little respect and stop reacting so harshly online.”

The 26-year-old Dane also said that the Instagram network and the English Premier League “must do something about it”. According to media reports, Andersen also informed the police.

Uruguayan Núnez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica for €75m before the season, headbutted Andersen in the Reds’ disappointing 1-1 draw with Palace. The attacker received a rebuke from coach Jürgen Klopp for this: “He has to learn from it. Unfortunately, he now has three games to do this. It’s not cool for us, but it is what it is,” Klopp said.
