Moscow wants to populate Mariupol with 300,000 Russians, original inhabitants will be deported
Moscow has one “development plan” prepared for the occupied city of Mariupol including a population increase of approx 300,000 migrants from Russia. The Kyiv Independent reports this based on reports from the National Resistance Center, an organization led by Ukrainian special forces.
Moscow is reportedly planning to complete “the handover” by 2035, said the center, which was able to view documents from the occupation administration. The Kremlin has already begun to bolster low-cost mortgages on properties in occupied territory to encourage people to live there. In addition, Moscow also sends migrant workers and “officials from Russia’s backward regions” to Ukraine.
At the same time, the original inhabitants of Mariupol and other occupations forcibly deported to Russia. The American think tank ‘the Institute for the Study of War’ (ISW) describes the operation as a “decade-long ethnic cleansing campaign”.
Mariupol – once a prosperous port city the Sea of Azov with more than 400,000 inhabitants – was bombed by the Russians at the beginning of the war. Half of the buildings are destroyed, while the other half are at least damaged. At least 22,000 inhabitants of the Ukrainian port city have died in the war.

Ukraine reclaims 3 square kilometers of territory near Bachmoet
It Ukrainian army has last week near the eastern city Bachmoet reconquered about three square kilometers of terrain. This was reported by Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Maliar. There were no “meaningful shifts” on the southern front.
“Another three square kilometers have been liberated” on the way to Bachmut, Maliar said on Ukrainian television. The additional territorial gain brings the total reclaimed area since June 43 square kilometersshe pointed out.
According to Maliar, there are no significant changes at the front in the south. “Our defenders continue to make progress towards (the occupied cities) Berdiansk and Melitopol,” the deputy minister added.
Ukraine launched a massive counter-offensive in June to recapture areas occupied by Russian troops. That is not going smoothly. In the run-up to the offensive, the Russians reinforced their positions with trenches, anti-tank mines and minefields.
The Kupyansk region, in the northeast, is the only sector on the front where the Russians are on the offensive. Maliar assured that the Ukrainian defense line is holding up well. “All battles have ended in the defeat of the enemy. The enemy is not making any progress there,” she said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister: The Netherlands sets the example
The Netherlands leads by example when it comes to facilitating deliveries of new types of weapon systems. This is what Ukrainian foreign minister Dmitro Koeleba says today in a joint interview with his outgoing counterpart Wopke Hoekstra in ‘de Volkskrant’.
Outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced yesterday that the Netherlands will supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine together with Denmark. It is the first time that a Western country has promised modern fighter jets to Ukraine.
According to Koeleba, “history is written” on Sunday. The Ukrainian foreign minister says that the Netherlands “plays a leading role”, which he said was already the case when the Netherlands and Germany organized a joint project to supply armored howitzers. “So we started and ended with Dutch leadership. We are grateful for that: you set an example,” said Koeleba.
According to the foreign ministers, the term in which the F-16s will be delivered is still uncertain. “If, like Dmytro and his compatriots, you fight for your life every day and have loved ones who do the same, the equipment always had to be there yesterday. Still, I am glad that this day has arrived. Organizing everything still takes some time , but we will do it as soon as possible,” Hoekstra told the newspaper.
“We don’t know when those F-16s will arrive, but I guarantee you that even announcing them today will make a difference at the front. It will motivate our soldiers and show that the flow of aid is not drying up, but increasing. for the counter-offensive this summer,” adds Koeleba.

The actual delivery will only take place after a few months. Ukrainian pilots must first be trained in the use of the fighter planes – which Belgium is responsible for, among others. The training has already started, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksei Reznikov. Airports in Ukraine must also be adapted for the arrival of the F-16s.
Earlier in the day, during Zelensky’s visit to Dutch Prime Minister Rutte in Eindhoven already known that the Netherlands also sends F-16s to Ukraine. However, Rutte could not yet say how many devices it concerns or when they will be delivered. In the Netherlands, the F-16s are becoming redundant because they are being replaced by F-35s.
The Netherlands currently has 42 F-16s, of which 24 are operational. Not all of them go to Ukraine. According to Rutte, some will be used for training Ukrainians in Denmark and later in Romania.
According to Zelensky, Rutte has already discussed the exact number that the Netherlands can provide. On X, after the conversation with Rutte, he announced that he expects to receive all 42 F-16s.
