    next attack

It remains hectic in the peloton and the attacks don’t stop for the first few kilometers, so that a small group of five riders forms again, who can open a gap at the front. But here, too, the gap is not significant and can be made up again with a small start in the peloton.

After a few kilometers the escapees are caught again and the group is on the road together. The stage currently passes the Rui Cardener, a tributary of the Llobregat in Catalonia.

    Three drivers break away

For the first time there are a few drivers who can drive away longer. Kobe Goossens, Julien Bernard and Jimmy Janssens ride a few yards in front of the peloton. But do you really let them go? The current gap of eleven seconds can certainly be closed again quickly.

    Look at the first kilometers

After the start of the stage, the route passes the Castell de Cardona and leads to Solsona. The first almost 40 kilometers include two longer climbs, which however have no official categorization before reaching Oliana. The route then runs in a northerly direction and rises continuously slightly.

    The first attacks

There are the first attacks, but nobody manages to break free at this early stage of the race. In particular, the favorite teams for the overall standings should be concerned that no breakaway group forms today.

    The overall rating

After two days, the Maillot Rojo of the overall leader is worn by the Italian Andrea Piccolo from the Education-EasyPost team. Behind him are the Spaniards Javier Romo and Iván García Cortina. Andreas Kron leads the sprint classification with 30 points, while Matteo Sobrero (6 points) leads the mountains classification. Only a few points have been awarded here.

    174 starters

174 riders are at the start in the 3rd stage. Laurens De Plus (stage 1 submission) and Oscar Onley (stage 2 submission) are the only ones who have already dropped out.

    The field rolls

The field starts moving and the neutral phase of the race begins. In 4.8 kilometers there is a sharp start.

  • 13:12

    The favourites

At this point in the circuit, it seems unlikely that a large breakaway would be able to pull away from the peloton unhindered. With the gaps still narrow after the first two stages, the teams with the favorites will be alert for overall victory and careful not to let anyone go too far away. Thus, a victory for one of the top favorites for the overall Vuelta victory is quite possible.

    Weather forecast

If the predictions come true, it could be an uncomfortable day for the drivers. Towards the finish, the rain could be present again, albeit with less intensity than the day before. In addition, there are significantly cooler temperatures, which are up to 20 degrees colder than in the stages around Barcelona.

    It’s going to the mountains

The Vuelta a España makes a radical change of direction on Monday. The race heads away from the Barcelona coast and takes the racers up into the Pyrenees and Andorra to its first summit finish, Arinsal. This finish at Arinsal Ski Resort is the first of nine mountain finishes and packs quite a punch – it’s tough enough to be classified as a Category 1 mountain. His key data of 6.9 kilometers and 8.2 percent could ensure that there is a first selection in the overall ranking.

    The look back

After a difficult start in the team time trial, the drivers experienced challenging external conditions on the first stage yesterday. There were a few falls on the rain-soaked streets. Shortly before the finish, the Danish professional cyclist Andreas Kron finally prevailed, followed by Kaden Groves and Andrea Vendrame. Due to the weather conditions, the organization decided early on to take the times for the overall classification nine kilometers before the finish, which caused many to slow down from this point on.
