After a 2-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt, there were two wins in the Europa League against Malmo, a 1-0 win against VfB Stuttgart and a 2-0 win against Dortmund in the league. With 23 points, Union is the leader of the Bundesliga. Most recently, head coach Fischer’s team clinched a 2-0 win in the DFB Cup game against Heidenheim. The Berliners are also in the round of 16.

Bochum is currently in 18th place in the Bundesliga with four points. After eight games without a win in the league, VfL clinched a 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on the ninth day of the game. In addition to beating Eintracht, Bochum also drew 1-1 against 1. FC Köln. Otherwise, the team of head coach Letsch left the pitch as losers eight times. Most recently there was a 1:4 defeat against VfB Stuttgart. During the week, the bottom of the table defeated third division club Elversberg 1-0 in the second round of the DFB Cup and is now in the round of 16.
