Mid-term conclusion:
In the duel for fourth place, RB Leipzig deservedly lead 1-0 against 1. FC Köln after 45 minutes. A dream free-kick goal from Nkunku has made the difference so far. Otherwise, RB has been the much more active team so far and quickly built up an urge phase in the first few minutes, which culminated beautifully in the 25th minute with a magical free-kick hit by Nkunku. 1. FC Köln has not had a bad away game in Leipzig so far and is also compact in defence. However, there has not yet been a shot on goal by Cologne.

A little more goal risk from Cologne! Schmitz is the target player of a combination on the right that at least ends with a corner kick. However, Kainz’s corner didn’t bring the guests anything and quickly died in the Red Bulls’ defence.

Is there something “gaining space” for the Rhinelanders like with American Football and the Super Bowl? At the moment, the Cologne team is more in midfield and cannot put pressure on RB.
38
21:08
RB Leipzig is currently withdrawing somewhat and prefers to lurk on the counterattack. The Cologne lead the ball and are rather cautious in their own offensive.

Leipzig wants to follow suit. The Saxons remain offensive and now bring the ball faster behind the last chain of Cologne. The evening doesn’t get any easier for Effzeh.

20:59
With the deficit on the scoreboard, 1. FC Köln must now come a little further. Steffen Baumgart will not like the fact that Leipzig’s first shot on goal is right there – and that it results from a set piece…

20:57
Nkunku’s 1-0 is really nice to see, Schwäbe in Cologne’s goal doesn’t stand a chance. Nkunku now has eleven goals this season!

The Red Bulls only use the next urgent phase and send Klostermann down the right flank to the outer goal line. The defender got hold of a corner kick, which the ball-oriented Saxons prefer to play out briefly.

Gvardiol is everywhere. The Croatian just wanted to be the assist provider, now Gvardiol clarifies with a header in his own sixteen in front of Thielmann.
18
20:49
RB is currently missing the sharpness of the pass. After winning the ball well in front of the coaches’ benches, Gvardiol wants to send his teammates up straight away, but gives the ball way too much speed. André Silva runs in vain.
16
20:46
The match is currently more in midfield, where the Cologne team is increasing in the duels and Leipzig are currently not letting the game build up. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the first chance to score.

Finally back on site and live with us again today is Effzeh trainer Steffen Baumgart. On the last day of the game, Baumgart had to pass due to a positive corona test and only had to watch the 1-0 win of his Domstädter against Freiburg from home in quarantine. How much Baumgart cheered on the home TV and even had to be calmed down by the family dog quickly became an internet hit thanks to a video recording of his daughter. “That was not agreed,” Baumgart said with a smile at the press conference. Today, Cologne’s cult coach can finally let off steam in the stadium again: “I love standing on the edge,” said Baumgart.

Leipzig’s new coach Domenico Tedesco was apparently unaware of the fact that RB can jump to a Champions League place for the first time this season with a home win: “I haven’t looked at the table for weeks,” Tedesco said in the Media round open to.
