Many well-known faces from the Handball Bundesliga will be on the field at the reigning Vice World Champion Sweden at this European Championship. The best pitcher so far is Hampus Wanne from SG Flensburg-Handewitt with 28 goals. This puts him in third place in the scorer rankings at this European Championship. Arkadiusz Moryto even scored two more goals on the Polish side.

Before this game, the role of favorites clearly goes to the Scandinavians, who are currently in third place in this main round group with 2:2 points. Poland is at the bottom of the table with 0:4 points and only has a mathematical chance of reaching the semi-finals. Both the overall statistics and the previous games at European championships speak for the Eastern Europeans today. The vice world champion from 2007 at the World Cup in Germany won eleven of the previous 19 games against Sweden. The four-time European champion from Sweden has only won six times, including the last meeting at the 2020 European Championship (28:26).
17:15
Poland started the tournament with two clear victories against Austria (36:31) and Belarus (29:20), but then had to accept a clear 30:23 defeat in the last preliminary round game against an ailing DHB selection. The first game of the main round yesterday against Norway was also a clear affair, when the Poles lost 31:42 against the overwhelming Norwegians.
17:10
The Swedish selection around HBL superstar Jim Gottfridsson was only able to qualify for the main round with difficulty. After a clear 30:18 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina and a defeat against Spain (28:32) there was a narrow 27:27 draw against the Czech Republic in the last preliminary round. In the first main round game on Thursday, however, the vice world champion was able to win a clear 29:23 against the Russians, who have played well in this tournament so far.

Welcome to the 5th match day of this European Championship. The second game in the main round group II will be played today from 6 p.m. by Poland and record European champions Sweden.
