86
21:27
Annegret Hölzig is carried away on the stretcher to the encouraging applause of the fans. We wish you a speedy recovery and hope that nothing too bad happened.
84
21:25
That too! Annegret Hölzig finally manages to get through with her attack and then she unhappily lands on her left foot and her knee gives way! Unfortunately, that looks really, really bad! The game is interrupted.
82
21:23
Stysiak’s serve error keeps Germany in the game. then the butterflies finally have luck on their side and Lina Alsmeier scores an ace with a net roller to equalize.

21:22
A pity! Germany hit everything and kept the ball well in play several times, but in the end the block wasn’t enough and the point went to Poland.
77
21:19
Germany even goes away to 14:11, but then it goes in the other direction again. As if the butterflies can’t handle a lead, they give away one point after another until Poland leads again. Time out Vital Heynen!

After another German point, Poland’s coach Stefano Lavarini calls the time-out!
73
21:14

69

The German team is not lacking in fighting spirit! When a few inaccuracies creep in among the Poles, the DVV team is there and, thanks to Marie Schölzel, equalizes 7:7.
67
21:08
A service mistake by Lina Alsmeier does not help in a possible catch-up race. Nothing really fits together at the DVV today. Now the assumption fits and still the point goes to the Poles, who lead again with three points.
64
21:06
Magdalena Stysiak can hardly be stopped, but Camilla Weitzel has an answer ready and scores with the first pace through the middle. Marie Schölzel and Annegret Hölzig, who started in the third set, then do a strong job in the block and get the first break.
63
21:04
Off to the third set! Middle blocker Agnieszka Korneluk records the first point for Poland in attack.
57
20:59
Sentence conclusion:
Poland finally wins the second round against Germany and is about to make it into the quarter-finals! The butterflies started the second set strong and quickly led by four points, but gave up the lead just as quickly. Just like in the first round, the Germans made too many mistakes and gave away some easy points. Otherwise there would be something in it against solid, but by no means outstanding playing Poles.
56
20:57
A little later, the butterflies lay an egg in their own nest and the second round is over.
54
20:55

20:49
Poland is now playing down the ailing DVV ladies quite confidently. The block just seems almost insurmountable.
46
20:46
Germany just doesn’t make a point anymore! Another break from Vital Heynen will not change that. that’s just not enough to annoy a top team like Poland.
44
20:44
Adoption remains a massive problem! A four-point lead has now turned into a five-point deficit.
43
20:43
In Germany, nothing goes beyond the middle. The butterflies don’t score at all through the center and they have no means against Poland’s quick attacks via Agnieszka Korneluk.
41
20:41
From a German point of view, the game is now going in the wrong direction again. While Poland are acting more and more solidly, hardly making any mistakes and are now attacking more often in the block, the DVV game is still characterized by mistakes.
40
20:39
After all, the butterflies can now break the Polish series and equalize to 8:8.

36
20:36
The German assumption remains shaky, but Vital Heynen’s team fights and works out one or the other point that was thought lost. But a break is already gone.
34
20:34
Germany starts a first small series! Monique Strubbe chases some strong serves into the net, Marie Schölzel draws attention to the point in front. 6:2 for the butterflies!
32
20:32
So far, both sides have held the sideout confidently and it goes back and forth with fine regularity.
31
20:31
This time Germany started the set better with a successful attack by Lena Stigrot.
27
20:29
Sentence conclusion:
Germany loses the first set against Poland with 22:25. The butterflies slept through the start, but then found their way in better and better and were able to balance the run. Ultimately, there were numerous mistakes in assumption and a total of seven points, which were given to the polo women without need, that were decisive. The mood is good, the attack is going well and if the DVV ladies omit the slight mistakes, then something could definitely work out here.
26
20:27
Instead of the break there are two set balls for Poland! And because Lina Alsmeier then makes the next acceptance error, the passage is gone seconds later.

24
20:24
Bitter! First the Germans fight their way up, then they give away a point without need because the next ball falls down. Poland is ahead again with a break. Time out Vital Heynen!

Stigrot then increases, takes responsibility and scores twice worth seeing. But Poland remains three breaks ahead because middle blocker Agnieszka Korneluk comes through for the first time.
10
20:10
Germany has made it too easy for the Poles so far. After Lina Alsmeier before, Lena Stigrot also puts her attack shot directly into the open. Also the German block is not in the game at all.

Dinner is served! Vital Heynen sent Pia Kästner, Lena Stigrot, Marie Schölzel, Lina Alsmeier, Camilla Weitzel and Monique Strubbe onto the field at the start.
19:54
National coach Vital Heynen sees his team as clear outsiders. “Poland are the big favorites against us,” said the 54-year-old Belgian, who made no secret of his disappointment: “We were convinced that we would get second place.” Now things have turned out differently and the targeted Olympic qualification has moved back into the distant future after three bankruptcies. Of course, the butterflies don’t see themselves without a chance. “You grow with your challenges. I think there’s something in there,” says outside attacker Lisa Alsmeier.
19:41
The Poles had four wins in their group and were only beaten by world champions Serbia. As number seven in the current world rankings, the team around star attacker Magdalena Stysiak is clearly favored in the duel with Germany. 19:38
After the first two victories against Greece (3:0) and Azerbaijan (3:1), the mood in the German camp was still great and second place in the group seemed within reach. The surprising defeat against Sweden (1:3) and especially the 2:3 against the Czech Republic after a 2:0 lead caused a lot of frustration in the DVV team. Since there was no sensation in the final group game against the overwhelming Turkey, Germany now has a really big chunk in front of their chest with Poland in the round of 16.
