12:33 p.m
Constantine Schmid (GER)
Constantin Schmid is happy. With 134 meters he also shows his best performance and raises his fist in the air.
12:32
Manuel Fettner (AUT)
Manuel Fettner wants to build on his good performance on the normal hill. With the high approach hatch, it sails to a mighty 138.5 meters. He benefits from a slight updraft and is therefore lagging behind Stoch.
12:31
Peter Prevc (SLO)
The strong Slovenes are coming. Peter Prevc is the first. He also flies far and can claim 137 meters for himself. However, he does not set a telemark and stumbles a bit. This means clear deductions in the posture grades and so he lags behind Stoch by a whole 9 points.
12:29
Kamil Stoch (POL)
Can Kamil Stoch take the lead? The 2018 Olympic champion shows a really good jump. 137.5 meters are measured and Stoch takes the lead. The Pole is back to the point.
12:28
Piotr Zyla (POL)
Piotr Żyła jumps very high. He takes this height with him into the flight and hardly has to correct himself in the air. With a distance of 134 meters, he gets good marks for his posture and takes second place.
12:27
Naoki Nakamura (JPN)
20 jumpers are still up. With Naoki Nakamura, the knot bursts and the young Japanese stretches to 134 meters. He clenches both fists in the spout and screams his joy.
12:26
Gregor Deschwanden (SUI)
What does Gregor Deschwanden do? He also seems to be doing a little better and sets his personal best here at 132 meters on the slope. He blasts the leading trio up front and ousts Klimov.
12:25
Pius Paschke (GER)
It starts for the German team. Pius Paschke shows his best jump in the competition and comes over 130 meters for the first time. 131 meters means fourth place and direct qualification for the final round.
12:24
Daniel Andre Tande (NOR)
Daniel-Andre Tande is much too late at the jump and only steps into the void. With 128 meters he lines up behind Kobayashi and now also has to leave behind two jumpers.
12:23
Junshiro Kobayashi (JPN)
Junshiro Kobayashi still has to worry about the second round. 130 meters means leaving two jumpers behind in order to be able to show a second jump.
12:22
Evgeny Klimov (RUS)
Is there now a purely Russian leadership? Yes! Evgeniy Klimov also dropped his jump to 133 meters and had to be content with third place just behind Trofimov. What a cohesive team effort.
12:21
Danil Sadreev (ROC)
The Russian power duo follows. Danil Sadreev is the first. The 18-year-old doesn’t seem to know any pressure and sails down to a strong 134 meters. With that he pushes Trofimov to second place.
12:20 p.m
Dawid Kubacki (POL)
What does Dawid Kubacki do? After the bronze medal on the normal hill, he can jump up here completely free. With 131 meters it will probably not be repeated today, but he still shows a solid performance.
12:19
Simon Ammann (SUI)
All eyes are now on Simon Ammann. The bounce is really good and looks powerful. When landing, however, Ammann has problems again and the distance of 131.5 meters is therefore not enough for the very front. But he will definitely be there in the second round.
12:18
Vladimir Zografski (BUL)
Vladimir Zografski does everything right with the jump, but his ski is too close to his body. He leaves valuable meters behind and will have to worry about the second round.
12:18
Roman-Sergeevich Trofimov (ROC)
Roman-Sergeevich Trofimov jumps high and can take the height with him into the slope. The Russian ski jumper has not been doing so well for a long time and can call on his performance at the right time. With posture grades around 18.5, he is the new leader.
12:17
Dominik Peter (SUI)
Also Dominik Peter is not yet 100% comfortable with the newly constructed ski jump in China. It manages 126 meters. The expanse is not what he had hoped for.
12:16
Pavel Wasek (POL)
The first pole goes from the beam. Pawel Wasek isn’t really that capable, but he manages a whopping 129 meters out of the inrun hatch. It seems to go a long way today.
12:15 p.m
Artti Aigro (EST)
Artti Aigro is extremely relieved. After 130 meters he clenches his fists in the outrun and can not only be happy about a good jump, but also about the second round.
12:14
Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes (CAN)
How elated is Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes after winning the bronze medal? He shows a good performance and seals the second place with 128.5 meters.
12:14
Antti Aalto (FIN)
The Finns are on the rise again. Antti Aalto quickly comes off the take-off and is the first jumper to break the 130 meter mark.
12:13
Decker Dean (USA)
The supposedly strongest jumper from the USA is now off the beam. However, with 120 meters he cannot live up to his expectations and falls far behind.
12:12
Mikhail Nazarov (ROC)
Mikhail Nazarov does it even better. It goes half a meter further for the jumper from the Russian Olympic Committee. That is also enough for the narrow lead.
12:11
Giovanni Bresadola (ITA)
Giovanni Bresadola is really kicking ass. He hits the take off and starts flying nicely. With 127 meters he takes the lead.
12:10 p.m
Roman Koudelka (CZE)
Already comes the last Czech of the first round. Roman Koudelka has returned after an injury break. With 124 meters he lags behind his Turkish competitor.
12:09 p.m
Fatih Arda Ipcioglu (TUR)
How far is Fatih Arda İpcioğlu going? He doesn’t do well in the first third of the flight but fights. He has to land at 124 meters. He will still have to tremble as to whether it will be enough for the second round.
12:08 p.m
Yevhen Marusiak (UKR)
That was nothing for Yevhen Marusiak! The Ukrainian only jumps 111 meters and says goodbye to the competition with this jump.
12:07 p.m
Kevin Bickner (USA)
Kevin Bickner does it even better and is happy over 125 meters. With second place, he also keeps his realistic chances for the second round.
12:06
Vitaliy Kalinichenko (UKR)
Vitaliy Kalinichenko stays half a meter behind Casey Larson and one place behind. There is a problem with the jump, but he still got a lot out of his sentence.
12:06
Casey Larson (USA)
Casey Larson does it a little better now. He manages a good 123 meters and is happy about third place in the intermediate ranking.
12:05
Filip Sakala (CZE)
The third of a total of four Czechs is coming. There is almost no wind and so Sakala cannot rely on a cushion. It can only pull the jump to 116 meters.
12:04
Matthew Soukup (CAN)
Matthew Soukup, on the other hand, is not doing so well. He cannot match the good performance from the mixed team competition and is currently bringing up the rear.
12:03
Kevin Maltsev (EST)
Kevin Maltsev was the first to jump over the K-point and set a new record of 126.5 meters. So he has good chances for the second round.
12:02
Cestmir Kozisek (CZE)
Rydl’s compatriot flies even further. Kozisek sails to a good 122.5 meters, even though he didn’t quite hit the take-off.
12:01
Daniel Andrei Cacina (ROU)
Daniel-Andre Cacina almost imitates the first jumper and jumps only half a meter further. He also narrowly secured the lead.
12:01
Radek Rydl (CZE)
Radek Rydl is now starting from hatch 20. With a slight upwind, the Czech sails at 118-5 meters.
11:56
It’s starting soon!
Radek Rydl from the Czech Republic will open the competition in a few minutes.
11:51
The circle of favorites
Ryoyu Kobayashi will be the knight to beat. After his triumph on the normal hill, he also showed the longest jump in training and left his competitors behind. The Slovenians Lovro Kos, Peter Prevc and Timi Zajc also coped well with the conditions. Markus Eisenbichler finished the training in a strong fourth place. Marius Lindvik and Halvor Egnar Granerud want to attack for Norway. After a weak season so far, the Poles were among the front runners again on the normal hill. Here, too, Kubacki or even Stoch could go further than previously thought.
11:42
Ammann with record participation
The 40-year-old Simon Ammann will not compete for the Olympic victory, but he has set a new record in his home country with his participation. Ammann is taking part in the Olympic Games for the seventh time, making him the first Swiss to look back on so many participations. In the run-up to the games, his team-mate Kilian Peier got on better and better in the competition and was able to place in the top 5 several times. In China, however, not much fits together for the Swiss hope. In the training session that just ended, the 26-year-old only finished 31st. Gregor Deschwanden and Dominik Peter complete the team.
11:33
Does the silver medal inspire the ÖSV team?
In addition to the silver medalist on the normal hill, Manuel Fettner, Daniel Huber, Stefan Kraft and Jan Hörl will also be at the start for the Austrian team. Manuel Fettner fulfilled a lifelong dream with the silver medal and proved that even an old hand can still cause a surprise. Stefan Kraft is also getting along better and is getting closer to the front places. In the fight for the first three places, all four Austrians are more of an outsider, but they may again succeed in the really big coupe.
11:26
German eagles with teething problems
The DSV-Adler are still struggling a bit with the hill profile in Beijing. Actually only Constantin Schmid felt comfortable on the normal hill, on the large hill the picture is a bit different. Markus Eisenbichler in particular did quite well in the training jumps and in the qualification. Karl Geiger, who turned 29 yesterday, hasn’t quite got used to the hill yet, but is getting better with every jump. Constantin Schmid was also nominated for the large hill by national coach Stefan Horngacher. Stephan Leyhe, on the other hand, had to give up his place to Pius Paschke, who simply did better in training.
11:10
Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to the decision in men’s ski jumping. Today at 12 o’clock the first round of the large hill begins and with it the fight for the next medals.
