Humphries scores very well here and has 74 remaining after nine darts. He gets a dart on Tops but leaves it lying down. The 84 for Chisnall doesn’t work and he throws two darts past the D12. Humphries gets his leg through and takes a 2-1 lead.

Chisnall has a finish first and has 134 remaining. Humphries plays a 134 at 208 remaining and has 74 remaining. Chisnall can’t clear the 134, but Humphries misses the break on the bullseye. Chisnall gets the equalizer with the third on the D5.

Humphries takes the first leg

Humphries starts with 140 points and Chisnall only answers with 85. Cool Hand Luke adds a 140, as does Chizzy. Humphries doesn’t have a good transition and has 167 remaining. He faces 84 and Chisnall is at 170. He misses a dart on the D8, but gets another chance because Chisnall can’t clear 170. Humphries takes the first leg on D4.

Chizzy is now significantly better in the game than in the first set and is continuously improving. He improved his average to almost 95 and Humphries is at 104. At the checkout they are almost on par. Humphries has a hit rate of 41 percent and Chisnall has 44.

Chisnall’s transition is also good and comes to 70. Humphries hits the T17 for tops, but misses two darts. Chisnall can’t take advantage of the mistake and throws a dart past the double, but Humphries also misses three darts. Chizzy then takes the leg over the D10.

Humphries is good in the match from the start and scores well. Chisnall isn’t really getting there yet, which can also be seen from his average. Chizzy only has an 88 and Cool Hand Luke has a 103.

After a slow start, Chizzy throws his second 180. Humphries can’t keep up and with 215 remaining, Chisnall plays 83 for 132. Humphries’ transition from 221 to 81 is better and he takes the set on T19 and D6.

Humphries has no trouble here because Chisnall’s scoring power is not there yet, even if he plays his first 180 here. With 61 remaining, Chisnall plays the S7, S14 and gets the re-break on the D20.

Chisnall not yet called for

Dave Chisnall has gotten through his matches relatively easily so far and things have never been really tight for “Chizzy”. In his first match he beat Cameron Menzies 3-0 and in the third round he gave Gabriel Clemens no chance with a 4-1 win. The 43-year-old didn’t need his A-game in the round of 16 against Daryl Gurney either. With an average of 99, he won 4-2 against the Northern Irish.

Humphries with weaknesses

Humphries, seeded third, is still the big favorite for the world title, but is weakening here and there. At the start he beat Lee Evans 3-0, but the duel was always competitive. He then narrowly beat Pietreczko 4:3 after he was already 1:3 behind. With an average of 95.61 points, the Englishman had the sixth best tournament average.

Dramatic round of 16

“Cool Hand Luke” beat Joe Cullen 4-3 in the round of 16. In an incredibly exciting game, it went back and forth for a long time and the match was ultimately decided in the sudden death leg. Humphries missed eight (!) match darts, but played a 12-darter in the last leg and secured his place in the quarter-finals.
