After the first 45 minutes, Manchester United leads 2-0 at Leeds United. In an entertaining game, Leeds United got off to a better start. Marcelo Bielsa’s team even had the chance to take the lead. Around the 25th minute the tide turned more and more. From then on, the Rangnick team played much more purposefully. Harry Maguire’s goal to make it 1-0 (34th) was by no means undeserved. Referee Paul Tierney added six minutes of stoppage time due to two lengthy injury stoppages. The Red Devils took advantage of this in the person of Bruno Fernandes and added the 2-0 in the last minute of the first half.

After losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of the year, the Old Trafford side have gone six games unbeaten again. However, three games ended in draws. So the top trio of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City remain out of reach. On Saturday, Rangnick’s squad beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0. In comparison, the first eleven changed to four positions. Victor Lindelöf, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard will start for Raphaël Varane, Diogo Dalot, Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga.

Leeds got off to a good start in the new year with wins against Burnley FC (3-1) and West Ham United (3-2) after ending 2021 with three straight defeats. But then the engine stalled again.
