Consternated and sometimes nervous Karlsruhers made many mistakes. The most tragic happened to the already charged Gordon, who picked up the traffic light card after just half an hour. A last warning would have done it, but the dismissal was not a blatant wrong decision, which promptly led to the next goal. The free kick from 27 meters out was conjured up by Vušković with an absolutely fantastic shot into the crease.
