Live ticker Hamburger SV – Karlsruher SC (2nd Bundesliga 2021/2022, 30th matchday)

54

21:43

After all, the KSC comes to a conclusion again. Hofmann finds a Wanitzek corner from the right, but in the supine position he no longer gets any pressure behind the header. The conclusion comes centrally to Heuer Fernandes, who grabs it safely.

51

21:40

Power play in the Karlsruhe penalty area. Ultimately, Jatta takes heart and brings the flank high in, where Kaufmann screws himself into the air and heads the leather just a hair’s breadth past the left post.

49

21:38

The first minutes of the second half paint a completely unchanged picture: Karlsruhe is deep and defends with the remaining nine field players. The Rothosen control the game and let the ball run safely through their own ranks without rushing to look for opportunities.

46

21:34

Both teams continue unchanged. The second 45 minutes run.

Kick-off 2nd half

45

21:17

Mid-term conclusion:
Hamburg leads 2-0 at the break against Karlsruhe. The Rothosen took control from the start and rewarded themselves for a powerful start with the well-deserved lead, from which the guests never recovered. Consternated and sometimes nervous Karlsruhers made many mistakes. The most tragic happened to the already charged Gordon, who picked up the traffic light card after just half an hour. A last warning would have done it, but the dismissal was not a blatant wrong decision, which promptly led to the next goal. The free kick from 27 meters out was conjured up by Vušković with an absolutely fantastic shot into the crease. Then the rhombus only managed and waited for further mistakes against low-lying Badeners.

45

21:16

Official injury time (minutes): 2

43

21:14

Suhonen tanks up on the right and crosses sharply into the sixteen. Kuster doesn’t look the best again, but comes out half-heartedly enough with his fingertips to clear the ball over the waiting Vagnoman.

41

21:12

The Hamburg diamond completely dominates the action, lets the ball run safely through its own ranks and waits for further chances. Karlsruhe is currently touching concrete at the back and obviously wants to save itself with the two-goal deficit with a man down at the break.

38

21:08

Sebastian Schonlau wants to head to Daniel Heuer Fernandes, but plays the ball straight into the path of Benjamin Goller, who, however, cannot shoot from a tight angle. On suspicion, he plays the cross pass into the center, which runs parallel to the goal line and goes nowhere because there is no other player nearby.

36

21:06

The Badeners are shocked and are defending very deeply at the moment. The guests first have to digest this double blow of a hard dismissal and a free kick conceded goal. The North Germans meanwhile control what is happening without banging their heads against the wall.

33

21:04

Christian Eichner reacts to the sending off and closes the gap on the defensive with Daniel O’Shaughnessy. Fabio Kaufmann is the one suffering, who now has to go down.

33

21:03

Substitution at Karlsruher SC: Daniel O’Shaughnessy

Substitution at Karlsruher SC: Fabio Kaufmann

32

21:01

Mario Vuskovic

Tooor for Hamburger SV, 2-0 through Mario Vušković

Hamburg increases to 2-0. Mario Vušković takes the due free kick after the sending off, who simply fires an artful shot into the upper right corner from almost 27 meters. The ball flutters and then falls like a stone right into the corner. What a goal!

30

21:00

Daniel Gordon

Yellow card for Daniel Gordon (Karlsruher SC)

Now it’s getting really bitter. The KSC has to continue playing with ten players because Gordon Glatzel lays a body check. The decision may be justifiable in terms of rules, but a final verbal warning would probably have done the trick. The referee, on the other hand, knows no mercy and sends the man from Karlsruhe into the shower.

30

21:00

And again the red trousers. After a corner from Suhonen, Schonlau comes to an end in the penalty area, but can no longer control the leather properly with the underside of his forehead. The finish goes clearly past the guest gate to the left.

28

20:59

The goal pulled the plug on the guests from Baden-Württemberg a bit. At the moment only Hamburger SV is playing, which comes to the next conclusion via Josha Vagnoman. With the tight, but somewhat too central right-footed shot from 19 meters, Markus Kuster has a clear view and can clear with a fist to the side.

25

20:55

Once again the HSV. Alidou has space down the right and pulls the next cross in sharply into the box, where Vušković heads in. However, the attempt clearly misses the mark. Kick off KSC.

23

20:53

Robert Glatzel

Tooor for Hamburger SV, 1-0 by Robert Glatzel

The Rothosen take a 1-0 lead. Schonlau plays a sensational diagonal ball into Jatta’s run, who has the space and overview on the right wing. The flank comes precisely into Glatzel’s run. Kuster could still save, but underestimates the length of the flank that the keeper quickly runs under. Consequently, Glatzel only has to push the leather over the line from five meters. An easy exercise for the goalgetter.

21

20:51

Jakob has space on the left and finds Hofmann with a good cross. The goal-getter from Karlsruhe headed the ball, but put the ball well past the Rothosen goal from ten meters out. Kick off HSV.

19

20:50

Mario Vušković grabs the dead ball and circles the free kick from 21 meters to the top left corner. The shot goes over the wall and has the necessary sharpness, but does not lower itself in time and ultimately only lands on the goal net. Kick off KSC.

18

20:48

Daniel Gordon

Yellow card for Daniel Gordon (Karlsruher SC)

Jatta leaves two opponents standing and moves towards the sixteen with a lot of speed. Gordon unpacks the scythe, but only gets the HSV player with it. Clear yellow card and a free kick in a promising position.

16

20:47

Heyer finds Kaufmann, who finishes six meters from the KSC goal, but shoots himself in the direct acceptance. The ball sails toward the corner flag. Kick off Karlsruhe.

15

20:46

Dangerous: Vušković plays a sloppy back pass that Heuer Fernandes just manages to shoot past the onrushing Goller.

14

20:44

With a KSC corner from the right, nothing burns in the North German penalty area. Jatta helps out at the back and clears confidently with his head.

11

20:41

Ten minutes have been played when the Karlsruhers make representations in the opposing third for the first time. Fabio Kaufmann has a lot of space on the right wing and then looks for Philipp Hofmann in the centre. But Daniel Heuer Fernandes takes the decisive step out of the box and can intercept the low cross.

8th

20:38

The early phase clearly belongs to the Rothosen, who play powerfully forward. So far, the KSC has hardly got beyond the center line and has little to counter the power of the hosts.

5

20:36

Meffert prevails in the center and sends Jatta on the right, whose cross comes dangerously in front of the KSC goal. Kuster misjudges and can only fist the leather forward. The KSC goalkeeper is lucky that nobody from Hamburg is speculating on this and Kobald can resolutely clarify.

3

20:33

Kaufmann refuels to the right and plays to Heyer, who puts a hoe into Kaufmann’s barrel. A little too steep. KSC keeper Kuster is first on the ball and safely buries the ball under himself.

1

20:30

Kick-off in the Volksparkstadion. The hosts line up in their white home shirts over red shorts. The guests from Baden are dressed in yellow and red. The ball rolls.

20:01

Both teams know each other pretty well. There have already been 63 competitive games between Hamburg and Karlsruhe, with HSV winning 23 of these games (22 draws, 18 defeats). This is the third meeting of the season. In the first leg it was a 1-1 draw on November 6, 2021 in Karlsruhe’s Wildpark Stadium, before HSV equalized on March 2, 2022 in the DFB Cup after being 2-0 down in added time to 2-2 and then the ticket on penalties resolved for the semifinals. Incidentally, the Rothosen will receive SC Freiburg there in three days.

19:55

Christian Eichner has to make up for a few failures in his starting line-up. Compared to the recent 2-2 draw at SC Paderborn, there have been four changes: Markus Kuster takes over in goal for Marius Gersbeck (hand injury). In addition, Ricardo van Rhijn, Kilian Jakob and Fabio Kaufmann have replaced Marc Lorenz (bench), Philip Heise (suspended) and Marco Thiede (ankle injury) in the starting eleven.

19:49

Karlsruher SC has lost only one of their last eight league games (three wins, four draws), but recently did not get beyond the point draw against Düsseldorf or Paderborn (both 2-2). The Badeners are still one point short of crossing the magical 40-point limit. However, the blue and whites have not won a competitive game away from the Volksparkstadion since September 1992.

19:43

With a home win, Hamburg could at least move up five points to the top three places in the table overnight, which, however, with twelve points that can only be awarded, should be too big a gap. The Rothosen also lost 1-0 in Kiel last Sunday. Coach Tim Walter reacts to this with two changes to his first team: Mikkel Kaufmann and Faride Alidou start for Sonny Kittel (bench) and Ludovit Reis (suspended).

19:36

Just at the beginning of March, both teams faced each other in the DFB Cup quarter-finals in the Volksparkstadion. The Badeners gambled away a 2-0 lead and ended up being outnumbered in a penalty shoot-out. Since then, however, things have been anything but smooth, at least for HSV in league operations. The North Germans only got four out of 15 possible points from the five league games that followed and thus said goodbye to the promotion race for the time being.

19:30

Good evening and welcome from the Volksparkstadion. This is where Hamburger SV welcomes Karlsruher SC tonight at 8:30 p.m. as part of the 30th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga.
