Price marches
The “hurricane” is not keeping up. Price hits the first 180 and is way ahead of his opponent. He is at 58 points, while Huybrechts still has to delete 298 points. Above the big 18 he puts himself tops. The first throw lands in the easy 20. But on the D10 he is then there. That was an impressive first sentence from the world champion. Average: 102.5. Checkout: 75 percent.

First perfect shot
Price plays down to 109 points due to a poor intake. He would have liked a two-dart finish. His opponent is not yet in the finish area, but suddenly he gets the first perfect shot with 171 points. The “Iceman” is not impressed by that. He throws 19, T18 and D18. This is the first high finish and a preliminary decision in this first set.
20:21
Huybrechts starts to break
The Belgian hits a lot of triples in the first leg and is first in the finish area. At 164 he hits the 1st price twice, but only manages 100. Then the “Hurricane” has a dart on the D16, which he awards. This is Price’s chance to close his leg with 60 points. He checks over 20 and D20.
20:17
Price is booed mercilessly
The world champion walks in to the sound of “Ice Ice Baby”. Much more impressive than the music, however, are the loud boos from the audience. The Welshman takes it with a smile.
20:01
Price is in front on paper
Even in a direct comparison, the world number one is ahead. Gerwyn Price won three out of five games against Kim Huybrechts. The roles before this game are clearly assigned. The “hurricane” is by no means to be underestimated.

Huybrechts not required in the first game
His opponent today, the “Hurricane” Kim Huybrechts, faced Steve Beaton on lap two. The clear 3-1 victory belies his mediocre performance a little. The “Bronzed Adonis” did not put him under any pressure with an average of only 85 points and a double rate of 21 percent. Therefore, an 89 average and a similarly weak double rate were enough for the Belgian to win the game. But he has to improve significantly if he wants to have a chance against the world champion.
19:45
Second appearance of the world champion
For the “Iceman”, the last game at this World Cup was twelve days ago. On the first day of the World Cup, the Welshman beat Ritchie Edhouse 3-1. The result was much clearer than the course of the game. The defending champion was 1-0 behind in the sets and the second set went into the decider. But then Price increased his performance significantly and didn’t let anything burn. In the end he even had an average of 101 points.

Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to the third round of the Darts World Cup 2022. Because the match between James Wade and Vincent van der Voort was canceled due to a positive corona test in the Dutchman, the reigning world champion Gerwyn Price and Kim Huybrechts are allowed to open today’s evening session.
