9:10 p.m
Price now well in the game
Price equalizes and is very strong here in the fourth set. The average is currently in the mid-90s, but Price is now getting stronger. If the Iceman can maintain this level, the match will be over in a few minutes.
9:08 p.m
Strong set from Price
Price’s scoring is now significantly better than his opponent’s and hits two big triples in the first two innings. At 112, Price plays the T18 and S18 for tops but narrowly misses. Dolan can’t clear the 107 and Price takes the set with the third dart on D10.
9:06 p.m
Strong Leg
Price is first in the finish area when Dolan throws and plays a 12-darter to take a 2-0 lead in the fourth set.
9:05 p.m
Lucky for Price
Both start the fourth set without a triple, but Price hits a 140 on his second inning. Price is at 133 remaining and Dolan is at 103. The 133 is too much and he goes for 52. At 103, Dolan hits the T7 and T14 for D16 , but narrowly missed. With the third dart Price takes this leg.
9:02 p.m
Leadership for Dolan!
Price attacks Dolan’s throw with a 180, but cannot confirm it on the next throw and only throws a 60. Dolan has 90 remaining while Price waits at 97. The Northern Irishman plays the S20, S20 and hits the bullseye in the middle. This puts Dolan in the lead here!
9:00 p.m
Break for Dolan
Price plays his second maximum and is once again ahead of Dolan in scoring. He plays a 126 with 166 remaining and Dolan can’t clear the 161. He can’t make up the remaining 40 and throws three darts past the double. With 84 remaining, Dolan hits the T20 and the D12 with the first dart and gets the break back.
20:58
Next break
Price hits the T20 with 170 remaining, but the second is not in the triple. Dolan wants to play bullseye three times with 150 remaining, he hits the single bull first. Price then gets the break with the first dart.
20:56
Price weakens to double
Again the Welsh’s scoring is better and they aim for a finish first. While Price has 88 remaining, Dolan still has 200 points left. He narrowly misses the 88 over the D12, but has time. Price fails to clear the D12 and Dolan tries to play Tops Tops, which he fails to do. Price then checks the D3 with the third dart and cheers loudly, as he always does.
20:52
Good leg from Dolan
Dolan opens the third set with a 137 and Price answers with a 140. Dolan follows up with a 100 and the Iceman comes around the corner with a 105. The Northern Irishman narrowly misses his first 180 and throws a 140. Price bounces a dart out and scores an 80. Dolan has 32 remaining and hits the D16 with the first dart.
8:48 p.m
Price is getting better
Price is slowly improving and his scoring is now significantly better than in the first set. We now have an average of just over 100 and a checkout rate of 50 percent. Dolan plays his standard with a 94 average, but it won’t be enough to defeat Price.
8:46 p.m
The compensation
The Welshman attacks Dolan’s leg and plays the leg from the front. He stands at 86 remaining after nine darts and puts himself at 40 because he doesn’t trust Dolan to reach 146. This is almost his downfall because Dolan narrowly misses the D13. Price checks the leg with the first attempt and equalizes.
8:43 p.m
Price is warming up
Price isn’t on his A-game here yet, but he’s aiming for a finish first. The 161 is too much and he checks the 72 via the S16 and Tops twice.
20:42
There’s still a problem with doubles
Dolan doesn’t hit enough triples on his throwing leg. Price throws the first 180 of the game and is at 161, while Dolan is at 167. The Northern Irishman can’t make it out and Price misses the D20 and then the D10 after the T20. Dolan gets the leg via the S20, S16 and D16.
8:39 p.m
The scoring increases
Price comes out of the break strong and starts with a 125, Dolan only with a 59. The Iceman immediately follows up with a 140 and after nine darts is already at 136 remaining. That’s still too much for him and he sets himself the D20. He checks tops with the first dart.
8:35 p.m
Price has to fight
Dolan wins the first set and shows two high finishes. Price can’t keep up with the scoring yet. His average of 95 is still too low. Dolan is doing great so far and is scratching the 100 mark with his cut.
8:33 p.m
Another high finish!
Both start this deciding leg with two triples. Price can’t keep up after that and barely hits triples, but Dolan is also weak, but gets into the finish area first. He checks the 144 over the T20, T20 and D12. The Northern Irishman’s next highlight!
8:31 p.m
compensation
Price faces 102 and Dolan is still at 262. He almost checks the 102 over the D16, but throws just wide. The Iceman hits the D8 in the first attempt and equalizes.
20:29
Dolan is getting stronger
Price is visibly disappointed after only hitting a triple out of six darts. Dolan is attempting 170 while Price is at 245. They are too much for him, he sets himself the 112. He has the chance for tops, but narrowly misses. He then gets the leg with the second dart on the D20.
20:27
First high finish
Both are scoring well now, but Dolan gets to the finish area first. The Northern Irishman checks 130 twice over T20 and D5. A great finish!
8:25 p.m
Price with the break
Dolan opens the match with a 100, while Price answers with a 43. The History Maker continues with a 97. The Iceman adds a 137. With a 134, Dolan plays his way into the finish area and sets the 170, which he doesn’t clear. Dolan only plays a 31 with 72 remaining and Price misses the break over tops with 73 remaining. Dolan makes three errors on doubles and has 5 remaining. Price gets the break with the second dart.
8:17 p.m
It’s about to start
John McDonald invites the players onto the stage. Price comes running up to “Ice Ice Baby” and Dolan is accompanied by “I’m Shipping Up To Boston.”
8:05 p.m
Dolan with difficulty
Things got really exciting in the Northern Irish second round duel between Brendan Dolan and Mickey Mansell. It went back and forth and in the fifth set the sudden death leg decided whether to win or lose. Dolan won this one and played an average of 95 and a checkout rate of 38 percent. The world number 28 can’t afford to make any mistakes against the Welshman today if he wants to have a chance here. Nevertheless, Price is the clear favorite here.
7:55 p.m
Easy win at the start
In his first match, the Welshman had no trouble with his opponent Connor Scutt. The 38-year-old beat the Englishman 3-0 and only lost two legs. The 2021 world champion played a good average of 98 points and a checkout rate of 39 percent. The world number five will need a similar performance against Brendan Dolan to reach the next round.
19:44
