20:28

Meanwhile, the Germans are busy spinning again. Dominik Kahun plays the puck well into John-Jason Peterka’s run from the right. this one doesn’t get the hard rubber past Casey DeSmith with the long stick.

25

20:26

Then Marcel Noebels conquers the puck, thus ensuring a three on two. Maximilian Kastner takes the cross pass in the middle directly. Casey DeSmith also saves this shot.

25

20:25

Now the DEB team is participating better in the game again. Daniel Fischbuch deducts from the right face-off circle. Casey DeSmith seals the short corner and locks the disc in place.

23

20:24

From the right, TJ Tynan passes in the middle. In the high slot, Conor Garland looks for the direct shot. Gradually, the fourth place in the World Cup is losing its efficiency. Shortly thereafter, the home side can free themselves with an illegal long-range shot.

22

20:22

The Americans are developing just the right pressure and cover the German goal with shots. That looks like a power play. The DEB-Chracks don’t get in the way and can’t free themselves.

21

20:20

Team USA continues to be offensive. Alex Tuch is stopped, but Nick Bonino gets a shot seconds later. The US captain fails on the right schooner by Mathias Niederberger.

third conclusion:
After 20 minutes, the German national ice hockey team is 2-0 down in the international match against the USA. In the very open game, the guests didn’t notice that they hadn’t been training together for long and were playing their first test match today. The US boys kept their game simple from the start, and whenever possible, scored quickly. And in doing so, the necessary efficiency was achieved. This is exactly what the DEB team lacked, which is why 13:9 shots on goal did not bring the desired result. But this is a test. From now on, this also consists of proving yourself behind against a strong opponent.

20

20:01

The hosts quickly get into the power play line-up. Team USA breaks free, but there’s still plenty of time. The Germans are back quickly. Leon Hüttl shoots – and not only that. But a gap is not found.

19

19:59

Now the German penalty time is up, Tobias Fohrler can get involved again. The DEB selection is now in the majority for a good minute.

18

19:57

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Conor Garland (USA)

Guests have a hard time with a majority. Then Conor Garland works too hard against Jonas Müller, gets interpreted as tripping and also has to go to the penalty box. We’re now four against four for almost a minute.

17

19:56

Tobias Fohrer

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Tobias Fohrler (Germany)

Because of a catch against Rocco Grimaldi, the first penalty time of the game was pronounced against Tobias Fohrler.

16

19:53

Drew O'Connor

Goal for USA, 0-2 by Drew O’Connor

Half right in the attacking zone, Conor Garland holds his ground well, promoting the disc to Carter Mazur. This one quickly matches Drew O’Connor. The center acts extremely quickly in the right faceoff circle. Target acceptance and wrist shot are one fluid motion. And the play equipment is already wriggling in the goal.

15

19:53

A long pass finds John-Jason Peterka, who has a clear path and is looking for the way to the goal. But then Connor Mackey sticks to his heels and ultimately disrupts efficiently, so that no conclusion is reached.

14

19:49

Ronald Attard

Goal for USA, 0-1 by Ronald Attard

After a shot deep in their own zone, the guests switch quickly and attack from the left. There Drew O’Connor pushes hard, then pulls to the middle and hangs up for Ronald Attard who is moving up. He hesitates for a moment and shoots his wrist shot from a central position into the right corner.

12.

19:48

After a won face-off on the left in the attacking zone, Fabio Wagner passes to Daniel Fischbuch. This brings the puck to the goal from an acute angle. But the thing rushes through completely. Maximilian Kastner does not get a chance under pressure.

11.

19:45

It’s not getting physical so far. When it comes to defensive work, the players don’t go to work very consistently, leaving room for the respective opponent. There are hardly any checks.

9.

19:43

So far the game is very open. Both teams are trying hard and want to do something themselves. And of course, the smooth running of events offers the opportunity for the ranks to get used to each other – also with regard to the World Cup.

8th.

19:41

The disc reaches John-Jason Peterka via Marco Nowak and Dominik Kahun. From the high slot, this brings the hard rubber to the goal. But there is no getting around Casey DeSmith.

7.

19:39

Apparently, both teams have now sorted themselves to some extent and are therefore better defensively. As a result, it is no longer so easy to achieve a significant degree.

5.

19:37

There is still no interruption at all. It wasn’t until TJ Tynan fired from the right face-off circle and Mathias Niederberger pinned the target that there was a whistle.

4.

19:36

Then it’s the Germans’ turn. Harold Kreis’ men nest in the attack zone. Dominik Kahun is looking for a degree. The wrist shot doesn’t find the target either, the puck hisses past the long corner.

2.

19:34

The guests don’t hesitate for long. Ronald Attard pulls from the inside right position. His shot does not find its way into the goal. Although the US team hasn’t been training together for that long and is playing the first and only test match, it looks pretty smooth.

1.

19:32

Mathias Niederberger starts between the posts on the German side and Casey DeSmith on the American side.

19:26

Lukas Kohlmüller and Marc Iwert should ensure order on the ice. Linesperson Marius Wolzmüller and Tobias Züchner support the two referees.

19:22

The DEB selection played six friendlies in the course of preparation. It all started in mid-April with two clear home defeats against the Czech Republic. They won against Austria and lost in a penalty shoot-out two days later. Most recently, two narrow away wins in Slovakia followed. Today it remains to be seen where the journey is going, whether the form curve is still on the rise.

19:15

On the German side, Harold Kreis had to cope with numerous cancellations. Most recently, Yasin Ehliz had to give up injured during the fourth phase of the preparation for the World Cup. After a long season, many pros carry injuries around with them. Moritz Seider also had to lick his wounds, but apparently regenerated unexpectedly quickly and has now signaled his willingness to play the World Cup. And of course the Detroit Red Wings defenseman is very happy to be included in the plan. But today he is not there. JJ Peterka will take part in this for the first time.

19:06

Head coach David Quinn currently has 23 players in his squad, including three goalkeepers. Most recently, forward Rocco Grimaldi joined the team from the Rockford Ice Hogs (AHL). 15 players were used in the NHL this season. One of the most successful players there was Alex Tuch, who contributed 79 points for the Buffalo Sabers, but as a teammate of JJ Peterka could not prevent the playoffs from being missed. Two-time Stanley Cup winner Nick Bonino (most recently Pittsburgh Penguins) and Conor Garland (Vancouver Canucks) are also seasoned NHL cracks.

18:56

Team USA has been a regular fixture at A World Championships since the mid-1980’s and has won six bronzes during that period. The greater feats of glory, i.e. the World Championship titles in 1933 and 1960, are longer back, with the latter triumph also meaning Olympic gold. Of course, the Miracle on Ice, i.e. the Olympic victory in 1980, attracted even more attention. The Americans won silver at the 2002 and 2010 games.

18:46

Incidentally, both teams will meet again next Monday, when the World Cup Group A game will take place in the Nokia Arena in Tampere and points will be at stake. Already on Friday, the Americans have the honor of opening the tournament against Finland, one of the two tournament hosts. On the same day, the Germans are challenged against Sweden. There isn’t much time left until then. The other group opponents are Denmark, France, Austria and newly promoted Hungary.

18:36

Welcome to an international ice hockey game in Munich! Shortly before the World Cup, which begins on Friday, Germany and the USA will complete a final test at the Olympic Ice Stadium. The first puck should fall on the ice at 7:30 p.m.
