Live ticker Germany – China (Olympic Games 2022 Beijing, Group A)

30

10:47

China somehow wants to start a comeback again, but is currently making no progress against the attentive German team. With the 4-0 Germany would probably make everything clear.

30

10:46

The game is currently taking a little break and is rather disjointed. There are many stoppages and little traffic in front of the two goalkeepers.

28

10:43

Strong: Germany survives the dangerous power play of the Chinese again unscathed and keeps the zero!

27

10:43

China sniffs the first goal! The hosts go full throttle in the power play and slowly warm up Niederberger. First the Chinese almost poked the puck into the goal, shortly afterwards Niederberger parried a hard long-range shot from Foo.

26

10:40 a.m

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for David Wolf (Germany)

Germany has to be outnumbered again. Wolf deals out to the gang and gets two minutes. Disability is the call of the referees.

25

10:37

Dominik Kahun

Goal for Germany, 3-0 by Dominik Kahun

Kahung ensures clear conditions! The German selection brings the disc on goal and initially fails with a long-range shot by Tiffels. Then Mo Müller also shoots at goal and Kahun deflects perfectly with the trowel. A textbook tip-in!

24

10:36

In the meantime, the German defense has also improved in defence. China can no longer counter as easily as in the first third. Everything is going according to plan for Toni Söderholm at the moment. In the goal shot statistics, it is currently even 20: 6 for the DEB.

23

10:34

Now our ice hockey cracks are finding their way back onto the ice and are pushing China back into their own zone. Loibl starts a tip-in in the slot and spoons the disc into Smith’s catch hand.

22

10:32

Another good start from the hosts! Parker Foo breaks away from the German defense on the right wing and hammers the puck wide to the left with a powerful shot.

21

10:30 a.m

The second 20 minutes are now running on the ice in Beijing. Will Germany stay the course?

20

10:19

third conclusion:

After initial difficulties, Germany took an important 2-0 lead into the first break in the ice hockey duel with hosts China. The hosts initially surprised with a courageous start and put Germany under direct pressure in the early minutes. The DEB selection only increased after around ten minutes and then scored a goal through Pietta, which was disallowed by the referees because of a goalkeeper disability. After that, the DEB selection kept the pressure on and made it 1-0 again in the 14th minute through Brandt, which also counted this time. Four minutes later, Holzer then increased with a long-range shot to a reassuring 2-0.

20

10:15

Shortly before the first third break, the Chinese are now only in their own zone. Maybe even the 3:0 for our ice hockey boys?

18

10:14

The 2-0 is a real chest solver for the German selection. Now Mo Müller and Co. combine better and are immediately more self-confident on the road.

17

10:11

Corbinian Holzer

Goal for Germany, 2-0 by Korbinian Holzer

Important: Holzer increases to 2:0! The Mannheimer puts the puck on the right side and then hammers the disc into the left corner of the cross. Smith in the Chinese goal has no sight and has no chance!

17

10:11

Germany is complete again! The hosts put a lot of pressure with their power play and constricted the DEB cracks in their own zone for almost two minutes. However, a shot on goal does not jump out for the home side.

16

10:10

At the last second! The Chinese immediately raise the alarm about Niederberger and put Yan in firing position. Abeltshauser rushes backwards, pushing the Chinese to the right.

15

10:07

Yasin Ehliz

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Yasin Ehliz (Germany)

After the important 1:0, the next penalty time for the DEB follows immediately! Ehliz keeps his opponent on the gang and therefore has to go to the penalty box. Is the German defense tight again?

14

10:04

Marcel Brandt

Goal for Germany, 1-0 by Marcel Brandt
Germany scores again and now it’s the goal that counts! Brandt breaks away on the left with a solo effort and places his own rebound in the net in front of the goal. Strong how the Straubinger works the puck into the goal!

14

10:04

China survives the outnumbered and keeps the 0:0! Germany remains relatively harmless in the power play apart from another long-range shot by Plachta and cannot fire any more shots.

13

10:03

The first warning shot! After a minute of superiority, Plachta stands on the blue line and thunders a one-timer past to the right.

12

10:01 a.m

Jason Fram

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Jason Fram (China)

After the disallowed opening goal, Germany remains powerful and is now forcing the first penalty against the Chinese. Fram has to stand off the ice for tripping and Germany go into a 5v4.

11

10:00 a.m

The denied goal is very annoying for the DEB selection, the 1-0 would have been very important for your own self-confidence.

11

09:58

No goal! The referees reverse their decision on the ice and still don’t award the goal. Müller’s advance into the goal area is interpreted as a goalie hindrance.

10

09:57

Goal for Germany? Pietta might give the DEB the lead! Moritz Müller first initiates and pulls the disc up to the Chinese goalie. Pietta lurks at the right post and easily pushes the rebound into the net. After the goal, however, there is a challenge from the Chinese. A goalkeeper disability from Müller is under discussion. The refs look at the tape!

8th

09:52

China counters! After a disc loss in the German defense, Spencer Foo is ready in the high slot and nails the puck against Niederberger’s equipment.

8th

09:51

Our skid cracks are slowly finding their way into the game. China first surprised Germany with a bold start, now Germany is gradually winning more duels in the neutral zone and becoming more active.

7

09:48

Now Germany is becoming dangerous for the first time: Plachta stops the puck on the right side of the baseline and twirls the puck with a flick against the mask of China’s goalie Smith.

6

09:46

Good penalty killing of the Söderholm cracks! Despite being outnumbered, Germany allows nothing and keeps the puck and the Chinese out of their own danger zone.

4

09:44

Fredrik Tiffels

Minor penalty (2 minutes) for Frederik Tiffels (Germany)

Germany is not yet in the game and now also eats the first penalty time. Tiffels goes into the cooler because Germany previously had too many players on the ice.

3

09:44

Caution! China puts pressure on immediately. Already in the first minute of the game Osipov in front of the German goal and hits the puck against goalie Niederberger’s chest. A little later, the Chinese attack with a counterattack, but cannot exploit a 2-on-1.

1

09:41

The puck drops and the game begins! Will the German national ice hockey team win the mandatory win against China’s internationally pimped-up selection?

09:35

Today the German team meets the hosts China and goes onto the ice as the clear favorite against the blatant outsider. The Chinese are only 32nd in the world rankings and only play in the fourth-rate 2nd Division at the Ice Hockey World Championships. So that the host doesn’t go under completely in their own tournament, 16 players from ice hockey nations were naturalized without further ado. There are 13 Canadians, two Americans and one Russian. But the naturalization measure hasn’t helped China yet: In the first game, the hosts suffered an 8-0 defeat against the USA.

09:27

The positive: Also in Pyeongchang four years ago, Germany initially started with a clear defeat (2:5 against Finland) and later still won the silver medal. Captain Moritz Müller is therefore again hoping for an improvement: “All of us in the team know that we still have a lot of room for improvement,” said the Cologne native after the game. “Canada was just quicker thinking.”

09:19

In the Olympic ice hockey tournament, the German national ice hockey team made a classic false start. At the first Olympic appearance after the sensational silver win four years ago, the DEB selection conceded a clear 1:5 defeat against Canada in Beijing. Already in the first third, Germany was 0:3 behind and had no chance against the strong North Americans.

09:13

Good morning and welcome dear ice hockey fans! At 9:40 a.m., Germany will meet host China in the Olympic ice hockey tournament. Will our silver heroes get the first win?
