It is balanced in sentences!
With 83 points remaining, Anderson gets two chances at double 16. But the Scot makes the crucial mistakes. Hollywood can’t take that away, switching to 32 at 50 points and casually winning the set via double 16.
16:58
re break!
Dobey scored heavily in the leg, dropping 40 points. Meanwhile, with 76 points remaining, Anderson goes for double-18 double-20. His throw on the last double field goes well over it. Hollywood does it better and hits Tops for the re-break. That means it goes into the decider.
16:56
Dobey makes the mistake
Both players are at 80 points. Dobey first misses the triple and then hits the single-20 for tops. However, his shot at doubles misses and it is The Flying Scotsman’s turn. He just does it strong and plays tops-tops for the break! The Scot exudes a lot of confidence.
16:53
The allegations go through
Anderson can also easily get his throw-off leg through in the second set and checks 64 points over triple-16 double-8s. So far both players seem very focused in this set and use their advantage.
16:51
Go on!
Anderson comes out of the break weaker and Dobey can work out the first throws on double fields. The Englishman can then easily finish 56 points via double 20 and gets his throw-off leg.
16:44
A quick first sentence
The flying Scotsman makes a fantastic addition to this game! He plays a 12-darter for the third straight leg and has an average of 120 points. What a sentence and Dobey stays on the board to throw a few more darts.
16:44
High finish!
Immediately Anderson can fight for the break by delivering the 121 finish. He misses a triple-20 but plays a triple-17 for Bullseye. He hits the middle of the board and goes straight to 2-0 in the legs. Anderson starts this match off really well!
16:41
Good start from both
Dobey starts the game with a 180 and delivers four perfect darts to start with. Nevertheless, Anderson is the first to get a finish and after a great transition he has 40 points left. The Flying Scotsman checks over double 10 and grabs the first leg.
16:39
Walk on!
The players take the stage! Anderson is warmly welcomed by the fans. With Jump Around he goes on stage and to the oche. The two-time World Champion has big plans in his 14th PDC World Championship. Anderson won the bull out and will start the leg with his own throw.
16:37
Is there a revenge for Dobey?
In 2019, both players met at the World Cup. In the round of 16, Anderson defeated “Hollywood” Chris Dobey 4:3 in sets and later failed in the semifinals against Michael van Gerwen, who later won the tournament. Dobey and Anderson have met three times. The Englishman won once and the Scot secured victory over Hollywood twice.
16:35
Who secures the round of 16?
In the last match of this afternoon session, Gary Anderson meets Chris Dobey. The “Flying Scotsman” was able to beat Madars Razma 3:1 in the second round and thus overcome the first hurdle. Anderson has had a poor year so far and has big plans for the World Cup. His next opponent, Chris Dobey, has been in the Round of 16 of the Darts World Championship three times and is ranked 22nd in the Order of Merit. Anderson actually has to show his A-game against Dobey to avoid an early exit.
