Top group close together
Meanwhile, the leadership group is still close together. Even Da Costa can’t make a significant difference at the front. Giovinazzi, the former Formula 1 driver, is the second driver to take advantage of the additional service. He is followed by Pascal Wehrlein.

Ticktum in attack mode
So far, all drivers have consumed about the same amount of energy. Ticktum is the first pilot to activate Attack Mode. As a result, he loses a place to Bird because he has to leave the racing line to do so. Ticktum now has full power available for eight minutes.

Where are the Germans?
Günther and Wehrlein are close together at the back of the field. Maximilian Günther drives his car one place ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, who is 20th in his Porsche.

Da Costa at the top
How did the field sort itself? Da Costa is still ahead with Sims breathing down his neck. Behind is already Stoffel Vandoorne, who feels De Vries and Sette Camara on the back of his neck. Andre Lotterer was able to move up to ninth place and is still the best German.

Just an attack mode
All drivers have to complete 45 minutes plus one lap. Unlike yesterday, Attack Mode is only available once. When activated, it is on for eight minutes.

Cassidy serves punishment
Nick Cassidy also has to accept an additional penalty on top of his transfer. The Neuserländer drives an additional lap through the pit lane. A very bitter day of racing for Cassidy!
19:03
Missed start by Lotterer
That is impossible! André Lotterer stops at the start and just doesn’t start. With a little delay he starts, but only finds himself in eleventh place.
19:01
Ready to go!
Everyone is now starting two rows up front and bringing a bit of temperature to the rear tyres. The cars are ready!
19:00
Wehrlein moves backwards
Pascal Wehrlein was also transferred as a penalty. Due to a software error that gave him too much power, he only started the race from 20th place.

How’s the weather?
Does the weather hold? It starts in a few minutes and so far the sun is shining. The first race on Saturday showed that this doesn’t have to mean anything. With a 0% chance of rain, the pilots were surprised by an extreme downpour. So it remains exciting to see whether the weather today will keep what it promises.
18:50
The race course
The E-Prix has been held in the “Red Hook” ferry terminal in the borough of Brooklyn in New York for the past five years. The drivers have to cover a total of 2.320 kilometers per lap and complete a mix of longer straights and medium-fast corners without making any mistakes. The attack zone is in turn ten and costs the driver about 1.2 seconds extra.
18:43
Punishment transfer Cassidy
It has just been announced that Nick Cassidy has been transferred as a disciplinary measure. Instead of starting from pole position, the New Zealander now finds himself at the end of the field. Due to the crash in yesterday’s race, the battery on his Envision Racing had to be changed and the rules say this means last place on the grid. Bitter for the best this weekend!
18:41
Title candidates rather relegated
For the majority of the favorites, qualifying was not so pleasant. Edoardo Mortara had to park his car after the first fast lap and will start from the last row of the grid. Only one place ahead of him is Di Grassi, who finished on the podium yesterday in race I. Jean-Eric Vergne, currently third in the World Championship, will aim to catch up from P15. Robin Frijns also missed out on the top 10 with eleventh place, while Evans failed in the round of 16 with seventh best time. This means that Stoffel Vandoorne could possibly take the lead in the World Championship today, as he is well ahead of his rivals with sixth place on the grid.
18:32
The front starting positions
What’s it like behind the pole setter? António Félix da Costa will start from second place on the grid, followed by Sims and André Lotterer from Duisburg, somewhat surprisingly, in third and fourth place. Completing the top ten are Sette Câmara, Vandoorne, Evans, de Vries, Askew and Dennis.
18:19
Cassidy as the top favorite to win
Nick Cassidy feels right at home in New York. After starting the race from pole yesterday, he also secured the fastest lap in today’s qualifying in the finale. Front of the grid gave him victory in a chaotic race yesterday. Can he do the double today?
Warm welcome!
The second E-Prix this weekend is on the streets of New York. The race starts at 7:00 p.m.
