    New route

Formula 1 has introduced a modified route on the Marina Bay Street Circuit for 2023. This has become necessary due to construction work in the city. The new variant takes the pilots towards Marina Bay later. This means that there is no need to pass under the stands and the course will be faster overall. Instead of four curves, there is now a straight line about 400 meters long. The route is also 123 meters shorter than in previous years.

    Lawson going strong

Meanwhile, Ricciardo’s replacement Liam Lawson continues to use his opportunity to recommend himself for a cockpit at AlphaTauri in 2024. With tenth place, he moved up to tenth place in qualifying on a circuit that he is not yet familiar with and now has his first points in Formula 1.

    Stroll sits out

On Sunday morning, Aston Martin announced that it would only be competing in Singapore with one car. Lance Stroll, who suffered a massive crash in Q1 yesterday, will not take part in the race today. The team justified this decision by saying that the mechanics were faced with the great challenge of repairing the car and that Stroll was still in poor health after the accident.

Haas with both cars in the top ten

The street circuit in Singapore caused a few surprises yesterday and Haas ultimately made it into the top ten with both cars in qualifying. Kevin Magnussen is sixth on the third row of the grid next to Lewis Hamilton. Nico Hülkenberg will start from ninth position. The big question, however, will be what the tire wear looks like on the city route. Because that should once again be the big sticking point for a good Haas result.

  • 13:28

    Sainz takes pole

In a heart-stopping finale, pole was secured instead by Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari. With a 1:30.984 he beat George Russell in the Mercedes. The second row is made up of Charles Leclerc in the second Ferrari and Lando Norris, who ended up in fourth place.

Is this the first defeat for Red Bull?

Red Bull have dominated the season so far at will, but in Singapore the Bulls could now face their first defeat. Both drivers have had trouble finding a setup that works on the Marina Bay Circuit since the first practice session and changes in the run-up to qualifying didn’t help. Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez were far from being able to challenge their competitors and were already thrown out in Q2! Verstappen only has 11th place on the grid today, Pérez will start from 13th.
