The race begins!

The traffic lights go out, the race has started in Spielberg. Verstappen holds the top position in the first corner and slowly pulls away. Leclerc and Sainz were also able to assert themselves. There was some confusion behind it!

Formation lap before the race

Green traffic lights give the pilots the signal for the formation lap. Alonso, Bottas and Magnussen start on the hard tires, otherwise mediums were raised throughout. It will not be long!

The conditions

After the onset of rain yesterday caused a spectacular sprint, the rain clouds have largely cleared up today. Although the sky is still overcast, no precipitation is expected. At just over 20 degrees, the best conditions prevail in Spielberg.

14:40

The top 10

Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz, Norris and Hamilton are ahead of Nico Hulkenberg. Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso were also able to get ahead of the Haas drivers in qualifying. In yesterday’s sprint, the Aston Martins were unobtrusive, which is positive. They held their positions calmly and carefully, only to start an open duel for P4 on the last lap, which Stroll won. Behind the green cars and Hülkenberg, Pierre Gasly and the once again impressive Alex Albon in the Williams complete the top 10.

Next chance for Hulkenberg

The Hulkster was allowed to start from position four yesterday and was convincing in many respects. He moved up to P2 on the first lap and held that position for a few laps. When the tires faded along with the rain, he switched to slicks early on. With the new tires he started a race to catch up, which ultimately brought him sixth place and a lot of respect in public perception. Today the German starts from P8 and should be just as ambitious.

Colorful tracker box

At the beginning of the sprint, Sergio Pérez was very aggressive in the fight for P1, but he’s unlikely to attack at the front today. Due to a poor qualifying session, the Mexican will only start from 15th place today. Instead, the two Ferraris, a revived Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton are lurking behind Verstappen. However, only Carlos Sainz was able to really convince yesterday and even he probably lacks the pace for a realistic chance of first place.

Who stops Max Verstappen?

A spectacular sprint took place yesterday on the partly rainy track in Spielberg. Numerous overtaking maneuvers alternated with courageous tire changes and a big fight for points. The only one who was unaffected was Max Verstappen. The Dutchman opened up a lead of 21 seconds in just 24 laps, which is why the question once again arises: who will stop Max Verstappen?
