It’s filling up
The track is slowly starting to fill up and more and more pilots are steering their cars onto the track. It is still quite slippery. Not much grip could be built up yesterday and there were a few showers overnight which washed the rubber off the track.

With the soft tires, the two Ferrari drivers don’t have to struggle to pass Bottas. Leclerc delivers a 1:19.283, Sainz was a tenth slower. After two installation laps, the Aston Martin drivers are back in the pit lane.

Ferrari is now getting started too. Both Sainz and Leclerc take to the track on the soft tire compound. Only five of the 20 pilots are on the move.

While other drivers haven’t even put on their helmets yet, Valtteri Bottas is now the first driver to set off. He is on the hardest tire compound.

The traffic lights are green, the start of the 3rd training session in México, DF has taken place. Nobody is out of the field on the route yet.

Yesterday there were short showers in the second training session, today the track is expected to stay dry. The track temperature is 40 degrees while the air temperature is 20 degrees.

What’s going on for Mercedes?
After Mercedes came close in Austin, disillusionment set in after the first training sessions in Mexico and the team was still unable to be at the forefront. Lewis Hamilton reached seventh place in the second practice session on softs, while George Russell found himself in tenth place. Things went better for Daniel Ricciardo, who managed to place the AlphaTauri in sixth place.

Aston Martin way back
The two Aston Martin drivers were far behind. After a spin with the softs, Fernando Alonso was no longer able to set a fast lap and ended up in last place. Lance Stroll was in the pits for a long time due to technical problems and ended the session in 17th place. Haas was also unable to deliver the desired result in Mexico. For Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen the day ended in 15th and 19th place.

Verstappen with the best time
On Friday, Max Verstappen set the best time twice in Mexico City. But it seems as if the competitors are hot on the heels of the three-time world champion here too. In the first training session, Alex Albon was close to the best time, while in the second training session Lando Norris was only a tenth of a second behind Verstappen. Charles Leclerc followed in third place.
