21:41

The people from Sinsheim are in no hurry and are keeping the pace very low. The miners lack the ability to dictate the speed of the game themselves. Hoffenheim are playing it very focused and relaxed at the moment.

49

21:39

The guests from the Kraichgau try to lure the miners out of their reserve in order to create more moments of transition. However, S04 can playfully free themselves in the first minutes of the second half without penetrating into the opposing third, which TSG occupies well.

46

21:35

The teams return to the field and Brunner stays out with the hosts. Aydin takes over. Let’s continue with round two.

Mid-term conclusion:
At the break, Hoffenheim leads 2-0 at FC Schalke 04. The Gelsenkirchen team showed a clear improvement in performance compared to the 4-0 loss in Leverkusen. After a careless Greiml foul, however, TSG took the lead after a strong Skov penalty (11′). The hosts didn’t let themselves down and remained poisonous, but were rarely able to achieve clear conclusions in a playful way. In most cases, a shot from distance was the method of choice, with Mollet’s strongest shot failing on the right post (30′). Meanwhile, the guests from Kraichgau were waiting for changeover situations and had several good chances to make it 2-0. After Rutter had a 100% chance (23′), it was Dabbur who was able to increase in added time (45’+2′). The intermediate result is bitter from Schalke’s point of view, but TSG’s two-goal lead is not undeserved.

21:17

Munas Dabbur

Tooor for 1899 Hoffenheim, 0:2 by Munas Dabbur

The Royal Blues attacked again and, after their own corner kick, ran into a perfectly played counterattack to make it 0:2. Baumann sends Rutter, who prevails against Brunner and then passes Dabbur diagonally at the right moment. From 13 meters he has the space to choose the corner and sinks the ball well placed in the right corner.

45

21:16

Official injury time (minutes): 2

44

21:15

Sinsheimer again: First, Baumgartner, Dabbur and Rutter block one after the other, before Skov misses the far corner by a good meter from 14 yards out on the right with a flat right-footed shot. Kick off Schalke.

43

21:14

Now S04 come into the switching game, but Terodde asserts itself a little too rustically against N’Soki. The referee whistles the promising advance because of an offensive foul. That’s quite strict.

41

21:12

Big chance for Hoffenheim! Baumgartner surprisingly slams the leather dribble from 13 meters onto the bottom left corner and almost catches Schwolow completely wrong-footed. The keeper can reach the ball with a flying insert, but not brake it. The ball rolls towards the line. Schwolow only fixes the thing in front of the goal line after diving.

40

21:11

After a high ball, Brunner has space on the right wing. However, the high flank towards the second post is too far. The Royal Blues do a lot right, but lack precision, especially in the last ball.

38

21:08

Grischa Proemel

Yellow card for Grischa Prömel (1899 Hoffenheim)

Prömel is clearly too late against Drexler and now sees the deserved yellow card for the unsuccessful tackle.

37

21:07

Baden-Württemberg countered again, but Prömel’s shot from 18 meters is not precise enough and clearly misses the goal. Kick off Schalke.

36

21:06

Prömel comes too late against Krauss, but the referee gives TSG a free kick, much to the annoyance of the Royal Blues. Angrily, Krauss hits the lawn and has to listen to a few clear words from the referee.

34

21:05

S04 primarily come to the end from a distance, but rarely get the balls on goal. A left-footed shot from Ouwejan from 18 meters also clearly flies over the crossbar.

33

21:04

The squad from Kraichgau is trying to calm the game down a bit and keeps the ball in their own ranks for a long time. Schalke are in good shape and aren’t going into the open knife, but are patiently waiting for further chances.

30

21:01

Double chance Schalke! Mollet simply pulls away from 19 meters and puts the tight left-footed shot from the turn on the right post. The ball bounces to Ouwejan, who immediately puts the follow-up shot on the Hoffenheim box from ten meters on the left-hand side, but Baumann is in good shape and defends with a foot defence. Big sign of life from the miners!

28

20:58

After a Skov cross from the right-hand field, Baumgartner heads well past the Schalke goal from twelve yards out. At the same time, Baumgartner and Greiml still bang their heads. But it looks worse than it actually is. Both can continue playing.

25

20:56

The Gelsenkirchen team followed suit and Terodde was able to pull away from 14 meters when a mollet was thrown. However, this left-footed shot also clearly goes over the crossbar.

23

20:55

Big chance Hoffenheim! After winning the ball, the Sinsheimer come into the switching game in the center and Dabbur passes the ball on to Baumgartner’s run with quick-wittedness. At the right moment he crosses the free Rutter, but luckily for the Royal Blues, the 20-year-old, who really only needs to push in, puts the direct acceptance over the crossbar. What a miss!

21

20:52

Krauss raises a lot of alarm and conquers a Sinsheimer bad pass in the center. From almost 16 meters he then puts the flat right-footed shot past the guest goal to the left. Kick off TSG.

20

20:51

Ouwejan finds Terodde when a free kick is due from the right half-field, whose diving header is parried by Baumann from a very short distance. The goal probably wouldn’t have counted anyway because of an offside situation.

19

20:49

Kevin Vogt

Yellow card for Kevin Vogt (1899 Hoffenheim)

Vogt completely misjudged a high ball and had to do a jersey test against Terodde to prevent an advance. That, of course, earns him a yellow card.

16

20:47

A Mollet corner from the right is cleared by Kabak with a head into Bülter’s feet, but his shot from twelve meters on the left is blocked.

14

20:45

The Knappen show a very positive reaction to the early goal. Terodde extends a strong diagonal ball from Brunner with the back of his head into Bülter’s run, but Bülter can no longer control the ball in front of the baseline.

13.

20:44

After a push over the left, Tom Krauß just pulls away from the backcourt. However, the not too placed shot from 20 meters is a case for the stands. Kick off Hoffenheim.

11.

20:41

Robert Skov

Tooor for 1899 Hoffenheim, 0:1 by Robert Skov

In the absence of the injured Kramarić, Skov takes responsibility for the penalty kick. The Dane leaves absolutely nothing to burn and nails the ball from the point with the top left and right into the corner. Nothing to do for Schwolow.

10

20:40

Leo Greiml

Yellow card for Leo Greiml (FC Schalke 04)

To make matters worse, there is also a yellow card for the wrongdoer.

9.

20:40

The VAR reports and asks the referee to look again at the hard Greiml entry against Baumgartner on the sidelines. A few glances are enough for the impartial. He decides Penalty for Hoffenheim!

7.

20:39

Big chance Hoffenheim! Rutter makes his way down the right wing and then finds Angeliño at the back post, who heads across to Baumgartner. Greiml goes into the duel impetuously and clears Baumgartner, but the ball is still hot. Rutter’s follow-up shot from seven meters is then blocked. Lucky for Schalke.

4.

20:35

Prömel clears Mollet, which gives Schalke a central free kick from 32 meters. Mollet grabs the ball and just tries it directly. But the end is clearly over.

2.

20:32

Hoffenheim immediately fan out at the kick-off and need less than ten seconds for the first push. Mollet clears the corner, which S04 simply cannot defend decisively. Rutter pulls out the second corner in the first minute, but Angeliño’s shot from the back is successfully blocked.

1.

20:31

The ball rolls to Schalke. The Royal Blues traditionally play in their blue shirts over white shorts. Meanwhile, the guests from the Kraichgau are dressed all in yellow. Here we go.

20:01

Both teams already know each other well. There were 27 competitive games between Schalke and Hoffenheim, with TSG leading the direct comparison with eleven wins (seven draws, nine defeats). The Sinsheimer only lost one of the last six competitive games against the Royal Blues (three wins, two draws), against which there will be the next competitive game next Tuesday. However, the duel in the second round of the DFB Cup will then take place in Kraichgau.

19:54

Hoffenheim also experienced a setback in the 1-2 home defeat against Werder Bremen last weekend, which has almost no effect on today’s starting line-up. André Breitenreiter makes only one change tonight: Georginio Rutter replaces Andrej Kramarić, who is temporarily out after a hit to his ankle.

19:48

After a strong start to the season, TSG Hoffenheim remained without a win in three consecutive league games (two draws, one defeat). The kickers from Kraichgau have rarely been convincing away from home either. Across the seasons, the Sinsheimers have only won one of their last eight Bundesliga away games (two draws, five defeats). As seventh in the table, the Sinsheimers are still on target. With a win at Schalke, the jump to third place beckons, at least overnight.

19:42

Frank Kramer reacted to the heavy defeat in the Rhineland tonight and made three changes to his starting eleven compared to the 4-0 defeat in Leverkusen: Florent Mollet, Thomas Ouwejan and Alex Král replaced Sebastian Polter, Tobias Mohr and Florian Flick (all three benches) in the starting formation.

19:36

The Gelsenkircheners got only six of 27 possible points from the first nine league games. In the current millennium, the Royal Blues only started worse once in the Bundesliga: in the 2020/21 relegation season (then three points). After three defeats in a row, coach Frank Kramer is also under criticism. It is clear that a noticeable improvement is needed offensively today. In the most recent 0:4 in Leverkusen, S04 fired just two shots and only had four ball contacts in the opponent’s penalty area.

19:30

Good evening and welcome from the Veltins Arena. This is where FC Schalke 04 welcomes TSG Hoffenheim tonight at the start of the tenth match day of the Bundesliga. It starts at 8:30 p.m.
