Cadiz coach Sergio has made two changes to his squad since beating Girona 2-0. Left-back Alfonso Espino is suspended due to a yellow card and will be replaced by Santiago Arzamendia. Attacker Sergi Guardiola is also missing from the squad. A new addition is midfielder and captain Álex, which is why Roger Martí is the only striker. The guests are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Barca boss Xavi makes six changes compared to Thursday’s 2-2 win against Manchester United. Only Ter Stegen, Koundé, Gavi and Lewandowski are allowed to start again. Newcomers are Christensen, Garcia and Baldé in defence, Sergi Roberto and Gavi in midfield and Torres and Fati on the wingers. Not in the squad, who sustained a hamstring injury against the Red Devils and will be out for several weeks.

As expected, the guests from Cádiz are stuck in the relegation battle and are currently only two points ahead of FC Valencia, who surprisingly occupied 18th place. The Andalusians are in good form, taking ten points from six games in the 2023 calendar year. Most recently, they secured an important home win against Girona. Tonight is the table-17. still a complete outsider, of course. A point win is not to be expected and would be an absolute bonus in the relegation battle. In the next few weeks, however, there will be more direct duels to stay up in the league.

FC Barcelona are dominating La Liga almost like they were at their best, winning every game in 2023 after beating Espanyol 2-2 in the derby on New Year’s Eve. Recently there have been important victories against Villarreal, FC Sevilla and Real Betis. Another three could see the Catalans extend their lead over Real Madrid to eight points. Only internationally, things are still not made to measure. After the bitter Champions League knockout, Barcelona could only play 2-2 at home against Manchester United in the Europa League.
