Mid-term conclusion:

After a spectacular first half with four goals, the Hessian Cup hit between Eintracht Frankfurt and SV Darmstadt went into the break 2-2! Eintracht got off to a stormy start and in the 6th minute they celebrated the next goal from goalgetter Kolo Muani for a quick 1-0 lead. The hosts then missed scoring a second goal and were badly surprised after half an hour: Honsak made it 1-1 in the 29th minute and only two minutes later turned the game to 2-1 with his second goal for the lilies. Eintracht was shocked at first, but hit back before the break and scored the 2-2 draw through Borré in the 44th minute. The Hessen derby has been really fun so far and is also completely open. The cup evening can go on like this!

44

21:29

Rafael Borre

Tooor for Eintracht Frankfurt, 2: 2 by Rafael Borré

Eintracht is back! The starting point for Frankfurt’s equalization is Ronstadt losing the ball against the attacking Max. After Lilien’s first clearing action, Rode sharpens the ball again and serves Götze in a free five. The 2014 World Cup hero bounces perfectly and allows Borré to score from six meters. Played hard!

43

21:29

Is it the surprising half-time lead of the lilies? After the long injury break at the beginning, the stoppage time should be noticeable immediately.

41

21:27

The home side have slowly processed the double neck blow and are slowly becoming more relaxed again in the offensive game. On the other hand, with the leadership in the back, the lilies are now also gaining self-confidence.

39

21:26

On the opposite side, Kolo Muani sniffs the equalizer! The SGE goalgetter climbs up on a cross ball from Götze and heads the ball first onto Holland’s hand and then into the goal. The VAR briefly checks the scene and rightly decides against the whistle. Holland is beheaded from a very short distance.

36

21:24

Another great chance for the lilies! Mehlem is currently the most conspicuous player in SV98’s attack and now transports the ball from the right wing to the first post. There Tietz rushes to the ball and shoots just past the left aluminum!

34

21:19

Rafael Borre

Yellow card for Rafael Borre (Eintracht Frankfurt)

First of all, the Hessen derby will be heated up! Holland grabs Borré after a foul and then has an extended dispute with the Colombian, including pack formation. Zwayer touches everyone involved and pulls out two yellow cards.

34

21:19

Fabian Holland

Yellow card for Fabian Holland (SV Darmstadt 98)

32

21:17

Eintracht Frankfurt is pushing for the 2:0 against the lilies and now the eagles are 1:2 behind! How does the Glasner-Elf react to the double strike of the guests from Darmstadt?

31

21:16

Mathias Honsak

Tooor for SV Darmstadt 98, 1:2 by Mathias Honsak

Darmstedt turns the cup hit in two minutes! Crazy! Mehlem is the template provider again and pokes the ball into a large gap between Buta and Tuta on the left. Honsak is there again and sinks from the left!

29

21:13

Mathias Honsak

Tooor for SV Darmstadt 98, 1:1 by Mathias Honsak

The lilies hit back cold! Tuta and Rode cause a ball loss in the build-up, which the Darmstadt team immediately punish with an equalizer. Mehlem starts on the right and hangs up for Honsak in the free sixteen of Eintracht. The Darmstadt player doesn’t give Trappe a chance and slides in on the left.

28

21:13

One step missing! Borré looks up and sees Kolo Muani starting. A fine chip ball follows, which Kolo Muani narrowly misses against shoes.

26

21:11

For the lilies, it’s now about gaining a little more security for their own game. At the moment there is a threat of a new fast attack by the strong Eintracht offensive almost every minute.

23

21:09

Almost the 2:0! Eintracht’s scheme remains the same: A quick ball behind the chain of lilies immediately brings goal danger. What worked just fine on the right now runs down the left side and newcomer Max. Götze’s cross pass hits the goal from a short distance. Schuhen braces himself against the 0:2 and parries with a strong reaction.

20

21:06

After the long break, Eintracht is slowly picking up the pace again and pushing the lilies back further. The lilies are lurking for ball losses from the SGE, but can’t force them at the moment.

18

21:05

Kolo Muani starts again! The Frankfurt goalgetter grabs the next through ball and stops at the right corner of the penalty area with a body deception. But Müller doesn’t let himself be tricked and clarifies with a hard but also fair action.

17

21:03

Continue with turban: Tuta and Müller each receive a head bandage for protection and continue to play for the time being.

15

21:01

Do Müller and Tuta both have to go down injured? After a head-to-head collision, both appear dull and require longer treatment.

13.

20:59

And that is not without! Max plays the corner from the left briefly and then twirls a hard cross through the five. In front of the right post, Tuta jumps up to the head stream, but catches Darmstadt’s Müller.

12.

20:58

The hosts want a quick 2-0! Darmstadt is now increasingly under constant pressure and only rarely makes it into the opposing half. The first corner of harmony follows.

9.

20:56

Same principle and almost 2:0! Again Buta sprints through to the right and this time serves Borré in the center with a half-high cross. The Colombian hits the leather volley over the goal.

6.

20:51

Randal Kolo Muani

Tooor for Eintracht Frankfurt, 1:0 by Randal Kolo Muani

Eintracht’s first attack immediately gives the Eagles 1-0! And who meets? Of course: Kolo Muani! Buta initially puts pressure on the right flank and crosses back high into the five. Kolo Muani rises up and overcomes Schuh with a header into the far corner. The SV98 keeper still has his fingertips, but he can’t prevent the impact. However, the header is durable.

5.

20:51

There is the first opportunity for the SV98! Mehlem marches down the wing on the right and puts the ball across. Honsak arrives in the fifth and comes a little too late.

4.

20:49

The SGE has to find its way into the cup game first. After Rode loses the ball, the Frankfurters are threatened with a counterattack via Tietz. But Ndicka is careful and runs out of the lily striker early.

3.

20:48

First chance for Darsmtadt? At least the second division started bravely and looked for today’s target player with the first high balls: Phillip Tietz.

1.

20:46

Now the ball is rolling. Referee Felix Zwayer whistles and Eintracht kicks off. The hosts play in red jerseys today and meet Lilies dressed in blue and black.

20:44

Before it becomes official in Frankfurt, we commemorate the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria with a minute’s silence. Suddenly the otherwise loud Deutsche Bank Park is very quiet.

20:36

Will Kolo Muani shoot Eintracht into the quarterfinals or can the lilies surprise at the SBU? Let us surprise you, the Hessian derby is about to start!

20:34

Both teams make two changes compared to the league: At Eintracht, Rode and Borré join the team, replacing Sow and Lindstrøm. Karic and Mehlem are new in the Lilien squad, replacing Isherwood and Vilhelmsson.

20:27

Also wanting to cause a sensation today are the lilies, which come to their big neighbors as leaders in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the lower house, Darmstadt have now been unbeaten for 17 games and are clearly on course for the Bundesliga. Most recently, the Lilien shot SV Sandhausen 4-0 from Böllenfallfor and thus celebrated their ninth clean sheet win of the season. At Eintracht, SV98 coach Torsten Lieberknecht wants to act courageously and create a surprise: “Frankfurt showed us how far you can get,” said Lieberknecht. The Lilies are looking forward to the cup derby: “We’re just looking forward to this game, like every football fan – not just in Hesse,” said Lieberknecht.

20:21

At the moment, these crucial weeks are coming at the right time for the SBU: Eintracht is still unbeaten after the restart in the Bundesliga and recently celebrated a clear 3-0 home win against Hertha. The match winner was once again the in-form Randal Kolo Muani, who quickly put Eintracht on the road to victory with a brace and was then honored by the fans with his own fan chant. In the cup, too, Kolo Muani should shoot Eintracht to success and, despite a double burden, can play again from the start against Darmstadt. A possible rotation was out of the question for coach Oliver Glasner after the Hertha Gala: “He doesn’t need a break,” said the SBU coach before the duel.

20:00

A very hot phase of the season is slowly beginning for Eintracht Frankfurt with the first decisions in all three competitions: Today the Adler first play in the Hessian derby against SV Darmstadt to progress in the DFB Cup. This is followed in two weeks by the big highlight of the season with the round of 16 first leg in the Champions League against SSC Napoli. In addition, Eintracht is also required in the Bundesliga and wants to make the Champions League qualification clear again between the cup evenings.

19:40

Welcome to the cup cracker between Eintracht Frankfurt and second division leaders SV Darmstadt 98. The Hessian round of 16 starts at 8:45 p.m.
