Rast starts from the pole
René Rast will start the race on Sunday from pole. In a tight qualifying, the German narrowly beat his teammate Sheldon van der Linde, who was a good tenth behind, with a time of 1:27.671 minutes. Jack Aitken secured third place in a Ferrari. He was two tenths short of Rast.

The championship narrowed further on Saturday. Mirko Bortolotti is back in first place with 180 points, but is only six points ahead of Thomas Preining. Ricardo Feller scored 22 points.

Abt-Audi is celebrating on Saturday
The Saturday race was all about the Abt Audis. On a drying track, Kelvin van der Linde used a better strategy to beat pole-sitter Laurin Heinrich and celebrated another victory after Hockenheim 2021 after a long dry spell. The second Abt was also steered onto the podium by Ricardo Feller in a breathtaking chase. The Swiss climbed from 26th to third place and thus maintained his chances in the championship.
