Cassidy and Gore pit stop

Nick Cassidy

Interesting tactic used by some drivers here. Nick Cassidy and Dev Gore come into the pits very slowly to catch exactly the point at which the stop is also considered a mandatory stop. Let’s see how that plays out.

1:40 p.m

safety car

The safety car comes out and collects the field now. That should annoy the top 3, who were able to pull away a little.

13:39

René Rast’s accident

Rene Rast

A little later it bangs again! This time between David Schumacher and René Rast! Rast gets stuck in the gravel bed, Schumacher can continue, but has to park a little later. Schumacher was just too motivated to overtake.

13:38

Accident by Nick Cassidy

Nick Cassidy

There will be a collision! Maro Engel catches Nick Cassidy at the rear and turns the Ferrari away. Angel can continue. A little later, however, it’s over for Engel. His car is damaged and he is slowly making his way to the pits.

13:37

Gore is getting going again

Dev Gore gets his Audi started again and can now continue his race.

13:36

Car is still standing

The race management must act soon! Gore’s car is still standing and the field is whizzing past the stationary vehicle. This is anything but a safe corner.

4.

1:35 p.m

Defect at Dev Gore

Dev Gore

Dev Gore defected! The Audi rolls out and stands on the track. Does a safety car have to come in now or can he somehow get his car going again?

13:33

Bortolotti is also returned

Mirko Bortolotti also got off to anything but an optimal start. He’s only 15 and currently finds himself in a duel with Grenier.

Overtaking by Philipp Eng

Philip Eng

Philipp Eng makes up a lot of places in the first few meters. He has meanwhile passed Olsen and is the new second. Kelvin van der Linde is fourth.

13:32

Start 2nd race

The traffic lights are off and the start has taken place! Sheldon van der Linde initially stays in front, but gets direct pressure from Dennis Olsen, who passes Kelvin van der Linde.

13:29

Formation lap in progress

The formation lap has started and Sheldon van der Linde leads the field around the track one last time before the start. The sun is shining and the track temperature is 38 degrees. The air temperature is 18 degrees.

13:24

The look at the championship

After Sheldon van der Linde again scored three points in qualifying, the BMW driver now leads the standings with 108 points. Mirko Bortolotti is second with 89 points ahead of René Rast, who has 81 points to his credit. Marco Wittmann is the second best German driver and has 52 points.

13:18

Penalty for Mirko Bortolotti

Mirko Bortolotti would actually have started next to Olsen from the second row of the grid, but a penalty awaited him. After the crash in yesterday’s race, Bortolotti dropped five places in Sunday’s race. So he has to start from ninth place in today’s race.

13:10

Brothers back in front

The jubilee party at van der Linde’s house went into the next round today. Because even in the tight qualifying for today’s race, the two brothers ended up in first and second place. Sheldon van der Linde set the best time of 1:25.945 minutes, beating his older brother Kelvin with just 0.010 seconds. Qualifying was tight again and just 0.2 seconds separated the top ten. Dennis Olsen from Norway secured third place.

12:59 p.m

Long Saturday

A long Saturday lies behind the drivers. Due to dense fog, qualifying had to be canceled in the morning before the race couldn’t start punctually at 1:30 p.m. The race organizers didn’t want to give in to the weather and waited stubbornly before a race could finally take place with a delay of almost four hours. It initially looked like a winning duel between Felipe Fraga and Mirko Bortolotti. But Bortolotti was clearly too confident when attempting to overtake and the two top favorites spun. The beneficiary was Sheldon van der Linde, who was able to confidently drive to victory. Brother Kelvin, who finished second, made the day perfect for the family.

Warm welcome!

Hello and welcome to the second DTM race at the Nürburgring in Germany. It starts at 1:30 p.m.!
