8:03 p.m
End of 2nd quarter
It goes into halftime with a quite surprising result. Green Bay literally overran the favorites in the first quarter, benefiting from many mistakes and quickly gaining a clear lead. The game cooled down noticeably in the second quarter because the Packers were unable to extend their lead with some unfortunate decisions and Detroit continued to lack a lot offensively. The Lions can still come back, but they need a huge improvement in their performance after the break. See you soon!
20:02
Field goal missed!
It’s going to be wild again. The Packers get to the halfway line with one play and let their kicker kick a 63-yard field goal. That falls short and the host even carries the ball back over half the pitch. But it’s not enough for more and we take a break.
19:57
Goff not accurate at all
Quarterback Goff isn’t playing his best game. He’s always under pressure, but the balls flutter through the air quite a bit. In addition, there are always serious misunderstandings between him and his receivers. Since the offensive also picked up stupid penalties, the first whistles came from the stands.
19:52
Do the Lions still have a chance?
The Lions’ defense held firm shortly before halftime, giving Goff 41 seconds to conjure something up.
7:50 p.m
The Packers defense forces the next turnover!
19:46
It remains tough for the host
Shortly afterwards, Goff simply throws the leather out of bounds against the pressure and the referees give him a penalty because there was no teammate nearby. The offense can no longer bridge the 21 yards.
19:41
Lucky for Detroit
Actually, the Lions’ next drive was already over, but LaPorta was apparently illegally obstructed by the opponent on the right and so Goff gets five yards and new attempts.
7:39 p.m
Field goal by A. Carlson (Packers) to make it 23:6
At least the host can limit the opponent to three points here, but is certainly lucky that the decisive pass was overlooked by a defensive hold or allowed to continue. So Green Bay has to settle for a field goal.
7:38 p.m
Packers again just before the red zone
7:36 p.m
Dillon like a gazelle!
7:25 p.m
Where is Amon-Ra St. Brown?
There hasn’t been much to see of German receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown yet. The Packers are taking their most successful pass receiver out of the game so far. Here he can grab for six yards. Shortly afterwards, things get tricky again for Goff because he throws over his tight end and behind him the Packers narrowly miss the interception. Either way, the drive is over and the punter comes onto the field.
19:23
Montgomery alone
The Lions are now trying very aggressively to establish the running game. That makes sense because on paper you face a weaker defense against the run. Montgomery is currently doing everything, first single-handedly ensuring new attempts and then gaining nine yards of space again.
7:20 p.m
Packers’ first mistake!
Yes, the Packers go through the fourth attempt and then things get bitter. Because when they try to hand the ball over, Love and his running back Dillon rush together and thus waste any chance of scoring points on this drive. The Lions are celebrating and can now perhaps use this success to turn things around.
7:18 p.m
Start of 2nd quarter
The ball is back in play. We continue with the second quarter.
7:18 p.m
End of 1st quarter
The Lions are once again experiencing a pitch-black day on Thanksgiving and have so far lost to the Packers. At first the defense didn’t really know how to defend itself and then mistakes on the offensive contributed to the significant deficit. At the moment it smells like points for Green Bay again.
7:15 p.m
Just before the quarter break there was a time out
The Packers don’t get far in two attempts and take a timeout just before the quarter break because they want to avoid a penalty for delay of game. After that there isn’t quite enough for new attempts, so it will be interesting to see whether Green Bay will risk a fourth attempt right after the short break.
19:13
Packers with four touchdowns in the quarter?
Will the Packers actually get their fourth touchdown in the first quarter? But well, you start consistently in the red zone. The Lions are serving up one gift at a time this Thanksgiving.
7:10 p.m
Lions completely out of character
7:09 p.m
Detroit can make comebacks, but should wake up!
They have already proven this year that Detroit definitely has comeback qualities. The hole only slowly becomes quite large and they then have to dig themselves out of it again. The punt return also ends at the 15-yard line. Green Bay is on top!
7:08 p.m
Missed extra point!
What’s wrong with the kickers? Carlson also misses the extra point from close range!
7:07 p.m
Touchdown by J. Owens (Packers) to make it 20:6
7:04 p.m
Green Bay touchdown?
Running back Gibbs does the next few yards, but a penalty immediately throws the home team back five yards. And then it becomes very quiet in the stadium because Goff is caught by the defense and loses the ball while passing. Was the arm already in forward motion and therefore a failed pass, or was it a fumble? The referees look at it and the result will decide a touchdown. Because the defense had carried the ball back into the Lions’ end zone.
19:02
No pressure on Green Bay
What is particularly striking is that the Lions cannot put any pressure on their opponents at all. Love has an incredible amount of time and can use it as he pleases. Now Goff is a little challenged with his offense. On the first play, the quarterback doesn’t find a taker and is forced to go for a few yards himself.
6:59 p.m
Extra point by A. Carlson (Packers) to make it 14:6
A. Carlson’s extra point attempt is good!
6:59 p.m
Touchdown by T. Kraft (Packers) to make it 13:6
18:53
Love without love for the opponent!
What’s going on with this Jordan Love today? Earlier he had to briefly move out of the pocket on the left and throw the leather away, but otherwise his passports arrive as reliably as the taxes to the state. I just had a third attempt, and that wasn’t a problem either. Otherwise, you usually don’t even need two attempts for a new first down.
6:49 p.m
Missed extra point!
Ohh! Kicker Patterson hadn’t awarded an extra point this season, but it clearly flies past the bars to the right.
6:48 p.m
Touchdown by S. LaPorta (Lions) to make it 7:6
18:43
Goff on the rise
The Lions also made up a lot of ground on their first drive. Montgomery mimics the bulldozer and Goff hits his receivers. On the right side, according to the referees, receiver Gibbs is illegally prevented from attempting to catch and you are already over the center line.
18:42
Packers exclamation point
That was an announcement from Green Bay that shows that they have something planned for today. And Detroit had better find their focus quickly defensively. Because it was way too easy for the clear underdog.
6:40 p.m
Extra point by A. Carlson (Packers) to make it 7:0
A. Carlson’s extra point attempt is good!
6:39 p.m
Touchdown by J. Reed (Packers) to make it 6-0
6:37 p.m
How is this going on here?
6:35 p.m
Game start
Kickoff in the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. The game is running.
18:32
Pakcers offensive starts
Jordan Love comes onto the field first with his offense. Last week he set a season-high 322 yards. Can the youngster catch on?
6:20 p.m
It starts in a few minutes
The national anthem is currently echoing through the arena with a lot of fervor. After that it should start straight away. We are looking forward to it!
18:13
German participation thanks to Amon-Ra St. Brown
On the other hand, Amon-Ra St. Brown is having an absolute bomb season. The German-American is by far the most popular target of his quarterbacks. The receiver doesn’t necessarily always stand out with spectacular plays, but with an average of 100 yards per game, he is the personification of consistency and is largely responsible for the fact that Detroit’s unpredictable offense is one of the best in the league. The host knows how to impress on the ground and in the air and is also uncompromising defensively. Green Bay therefore arrives as a clear outsider.
6:09 p.m
Packers with tailwind
And the opponent? He definitely comes to Ford Field with a bit of a tailwind. Because Green Bay was able to win two of the last three games and thus still retained outside chances of making the playoffs. Realistically, there is nothing left for quarterback Jordan Love’s team. The youngster is making a real effort and playing a decent season, but in the end he makes too many mistakes and is therefore in the bottom third of the league’s starting quarterbacks. Maybe the guests can draw a little motivation today from the fact that they have been without success in four games against the Lions.
6:05 p.m
Lions Against the Thanksgiving Curse
The Detroit Lions could actually go into today’s duel with the Packers full of self-confidence. In principle, they sit above the NFC North without a care in the world, have become a real insider tip and have already clearly beaten their current opponents this season. But despite its great tradition (the first game was played on Thanksgiving in 1934), people haven’t really grown fond of the holiday in recent years. The last victory of today’s hosts was seven years ago.
