Antonio Conte

Yellow card for Antonio Conte (Tottenham Hotspur)

Because of different views on the assessment of Diers getting in against Havertz a good 45 seconds before the goal, there was a pack formation in front of the coaches’ benches during the celebration. At the end, Conte sees the yellow card.

18:56

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Tooor for Tottenham Hotspur, 1-1 by Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

Tottenham forces the equalizer! Jorginho lets Son take the ball in his own sixteen. He gets through Davies to Højbjerg, who completes a precise right-footed shot from 18 yards into the flat left corner.

65

18:54

The Lilywhites balanced the match, increasing the risks in the fight for their equalizing first hit. So far, Chelsea hasn’t really been strong on the counter, making many inaccurate allusions in the counterattack.

62

18:50

Edouard Mendy

Yellow card for Edouard Mendy (Chelsea FC)

Probably because of time wasting, Chelsea’s goalkeeper gets a yellow card.

61

18:50

Kane with the big chance to the balance! The English national player is sent through Bentancur with a through ball into the free half-right offensive corridor. He runs into the sixteen and shoots at full speed and 13 meters at the far corner. He misses by a hair’s breadth.

61

18:50

sterling nearly with the 2:0! After Mount’s solo on the inside right, City’s new signing gets the ball from the penalty spot and is able to shoot with his right foot in a confined space. Due to a strong reserve, the ball flies over the right angle.

58

18:46

Antonio Conte makes an offensive swap with attacker Richarlison replacing full-back Sessegnon. The Italian will probably switch to a 4-4-2.

56

18:45

With the Lilywhites, Richarlison is gearing up for his first outing at the new club. The Brazilian has scored ten times for Everton in pre-season.

53

18:41

Tottenham made the restart more balanced than most of the first half. The guest presents himself as safer on the ball without becoming really dangerous against a well-organized defense of the home side.

50

18:37

There was more in it for Son! Kane picks up speed on the right wing and gives high on the free left side of the box. There, Son only has keeper Mendy in front of him, but fails to get a clean shot from an acute angle due to a slight stumble. Mendy picks up the ball.

48

18:36

Neither Thomas Tuchel nor Antonio Conte made any personnel changes during the break.

46

18:34

Welcome back to the second round at Stamford Bridge! Without a big target player up front, the Tuchel squad need direct, quick combinations or dribbling for dangerous actions in the last third of the field and therefore still have room for improvement in terms of the number of chances measured in terms of the balance of power. Can Tottenham punish this weakness with a more active display after the break?

46

18:34

Kick-off 2nd half

45

18:18

Mid-term conclusion:
Chelsea FC lead 1-0 at half-time in their home debut against Tottenham Hotspur FC. After a powerful but uninterrupted start by the Lilywhites, the Blues increased their pass security and quickly took control, but initially found just as few ways into the opposing sixteen. Directly after Havertz missed the premiere chance, new signing Koulibaly gave the hosts the lead; the Senegalese scored directly from a corner by Cucurella (19′). They then set the pace with clear field and ball possession advantages, but almost equalized thanks to a counterattack by Sessegnon (22′). At times Tottenham were challenged almost continuously on their own sixteen, but were at least able to prevent further clear opportunities for the dominant Blues. See you soon!

45

18:15

Round one at Stamford Bridge is to be extended by 180 seconds.

44

41

18:11

ReeceJames

James yanks Son to the ground at speed to stop a Lilywhites quick transition. This tactical offense resulted in the first warning of the game.

41

18:10

…Mount’s execution is a little undershot and is cleared out of harm’s way by a Dier head.

40

18:10

Havertz forces a corner kick on the right baseline against Sessegnon…

37

18:07

Mid range mount! The homegrown player appears after a cross pass from Jorginho on the half-left in front of the last opposing line and wants to flick the ball from 17 meters into the right corner of the cross. The ball sails clearly over it due to a strong reserve.

34

18:04

Pressed by the highly attacking Blues, Romero lets Havertz take the ball in the sixteen. He’s lucky that goalkeeper Lloris can throw himself on the ball not far from the baseline in front of the ex-Leverkusener.

31

18:01

Against Spurs, who had moved up exceptionally, Sterling refueled from the left into the sixteen and aimed for the inside instep shot in the direction of the upper right corner. Højbjerg gets in the way and blocks the ball with his back.

28

17:57

Because of the high temperatures, referee Anthony Taylor sends the team out for a drinking break to the sidelines.

25

17:55

Chelsea continue their possession advantage and want to add the second goal as soon as possible. In the live table, the CFC moved up to third place in the table thanks to their lead.

22

17:53

Out of nowhere nearly the compensation! for the Spurs! Sessegnon has a clear path towards the home box after Davies’ volleyball from his own half on the left. He penetrates the sixteen and then fails with a left-footed shot from ten meters to Mendy, who parries with his left leg.

19

17:49

Kalidou Koulibaly

Tooor for Chelsea FC, 1-0 through Kalidou Koulibaly

New signing Koulibaly puts the Blues ahead! The advanced Senegalese is addressed in the center of the sixteen by Cucurella’s corner kick from the left flag. Unchallenged, he picks it up directly with his right instep and throws the ball from a good twelve meters into the upper right corner.

19

17:48

Havertz with the big chance to 1:0! Sterling, sent steeply to the right side of the sixteen by Kanté, puts his heel back to the German, who shoots from ten meters and an acute angle at the flat left corner. Lloris blocks the impact with a strong reflex.

16

17:47

Chelsea now show almost constant presence in the opposing penalty area, but cannot get beyond harmless crosses there. The host has not yet made it down the flat path.

13.

17:42

In the meantime, the Tuchel selection has arrived in this derby. She now covers the opponent’s pressing much more reliably and shifts the focus of the action to the opponent’s half.

10

17:39

During the Blues’ first short phase of pressure, newcomer Cucurella wants to deflect a bouncing ball from the central edge of the penalty area with his right instep. Dier advanced in time and blocked the attempt.

8th.

17:37

The Conte selection presents itself as game-determining in a hectic initial phase and is therefore more reliable in the first few minutes. The hosts are still struggling to put a clean build-up game on the pitch.

5.

17:34

After Koulibaly’s foul Kane, Son wants to circle the free kick due from the right wing with his left instep in front of the home box. The execution is much too high and sails over friend and foe into the left gate.

3.

17:33

The visitors’ first quick counter-attack runs through Kane and Son. The South Korean, who was sent to the left side of the box, is cleared of the ball by James before things can really threaten.
