Live ticker Bayern Munich – Bayer Leverkusen (Women’s Bundesliga Women 2023/2024, 9th matchday)

54′

20:42

The reigning champions rewarded themselves for their dominance with the second goal after the ball was stationary. The signs point to victory and leadership of the table!

52′

8:39 p.m

Great for Bayern Munich, 2-0 by Giulia Gwinn

This is an application for Goal of the Month! Gwinn takes the free kick from the half-left position about 20 meters in front of Friederike Repohl’s goal onto the goalkeeper’s corner. The ball hits the net off the bottom edge of the crossbar. There was nothing to hold on to at all!

51′

8:38 p.m

Lilla Turanyi

Yellow card for Lilla Turányi (Bayer Leverkusen)

She places Damnjanović in front of the penalty area and consequently sees the yellow box. Even if she complains loudly, that is clear foul play.

48′

8:36 p.m

Jovana Damnjanović, who was very active in the first half, breaks through on the right side. However, her cross is then too lax and imprecise and is cleared for a throw-in.

46′

8:34 p.m

Schüller is new to the game for Bühl. Bayern Leverkusen remains unchanged after the break.

46′

8:33 p.m

Lea Schüller

Substitution at Bayern Munich: Lea Schüller

46′

8:33 p.m

Klara Bühl

Substitution at Bayern Munich: Klara Bühl

46′

8:33 p.m

Kick-off of the 2nd half

45′

20:24

Half-time conclusion:
The Munich team deservedly lead 1-0 at the break thanks to Magdalena Eriksson’s goal from a corner. Jovana Damnjanović had more chances to make it 2-0. Leverkusen became a little more active towards the end of the first half, but they couldn’t really force the game. It looks like the home team could climb back to the top of the table, but despite their superiority they are only one goal ahead.

42′

20:13

Bayern’s counterattack protection is outstanding. If they lose the ball during the build-up, Leverkusen has little chance of making something of it. But Leverkusen had a little more of the game in the last few minutes than before.

39′

8:10 p.m

Jovana Damnjanović! After Dallmann lost the ball while penetrating the penalty area, Leverkusen were unable to clear the ball properly. The ball now lands at the striker, who turns with her left foot and aims at the far corner. The tight shot goes just over.

36′

8:07 p.m

Great chance from Damnjanović! Bühl takes the free kick sharply from here and the striker is free to head it towards the goal from the five. But the header is too central and it would probably have been almost offside anyway.

34′

8:06 p.m

Sylwia Matysik

Yellow card for Sylwia Matysik (Bayer Leverkusen)

On the left she can only stop Jovana Damnjanović with a foul. That gives Bayern a good chance!

32′

8:03 p.m

The Munich women are in no rush to play forward. They patiently push the ball from left to right and from back to front until gaps open up. The result of course proves them right and allows this.

28′

8:00 p.m

Captain Elisa Senß’s long-range shot, which was clearly deflected, resulted in a corner. This is also presented by Senß beforehand, but it is clearly too short. Leverkusen remains in possession of the ball.

27′

19:58

And just then Skinnes Hansen breaks through on the right and plays flat into the penalty area. The ball bounces off the defense and Kögel just misses the ball.

26′

19:57

Munich is the team that dominates the game. There was little from Leverkusen and there was no dangerous action near Maria Luisa Groh’s goal.

23′

7:55 p.m

The referee Fabienne Michel lets things go. This was also the case here, when Bayern were able to win the ball with very rustic means at the halfway line. But the pass to the wing is too imprecise and Leverkusen continues with a throw-in.

20′

19:52

Again it is a Bayern corner that is dangerous. Lohmann brings it in from the other side and Viggósdóttir heads just past the goal to the left. However, a Bayer player was on the line and could probably have defused the game.

17′

7:49 p.m

The fans of the home team call for foul play just before the penalty area. Sarah Zadrazil complains about being dragged to the ground. There is contact, but it is too little and the fall is too easy.

14′

7:45 p.m

After winning the ball in the opponent’s half, Skinnes Hansen has space. But her passing is too sloppy, so what was actually a good chance is wasted.

13′

7:45 p.m

The 2-0 is currently more in the air than the equalizer. Nevertheless, football is known for the fact that goals out of nowhere are the rule rather than the exception.

10′

19:42

Even after the 1-0 win, the current league leaders are still in control of the game. How can Leverkusen respond?

6′

7:37 p.m

Magdalena Eriksson

Great for Bayern Munich, 1-0 by Magdalena Eriksson

And this brings the lead for the Munich women! Bühl pulls the corner strongly towards the penalty spot, where Eriksson can net.

6′

7:37 p.m

Things get dangerous for the first time! Lohmann has space and drives the ball to the box. There she wants to pass to Damnjanović on the left, but the pass is cleared for a corner.

3′

7:35 p.m

In the duels you can see that the two teams are not giving each other anything away today. Both start strong and want to win the ball early. The Leverkusen team comes forward for the first time.

2′

19:33

The home team settles directly in the opponent’s penalty area. A cross from starting eleven debutant Belloumou can be cleared.

1′

19:32

Bayern kicks off and the ball rolls. Here’s to an exciting game!

7:10 p.m

Bayer has 13 points after eight games and has a stable defense with only eight goals conceded. Recently there were three draws against Essen, Frankfurt and Leipzig, which has worsened their situation in the table, as the first five games resulted in three wins and only one defeat. Nikola Karczewska and Karólína Vilhjálmsdóttir have each celebrated four times, making them one of the most dangerous duos in the league.

18:51

Surprisingly, the reigning champions have not been particularly accurate so far. With 15 own goals, three teams scored more before this match day and two teams also scored 15 goals, including the women from Leverkusen. However, their defense is definitely top class. Only three goals conceded from eight games is the best in the league. Furthermore, they are still undefeated this season, only drawing against Freiburg on the first matchday and Frankfurt on the fourth matchday. As a result, they have been victorious for four games in a row, including wins against the She-Wolves.

6:35 p.m

At the end of the ninth matchday of the women’s Bundesliga, Bayern Munich meets Bayer Leverkusen. With a win, the Bayern women have the chance to reclaim their place in the sun and push VFL Wolfsburg back to second place. With a win, Leverkusen, on the other hand, will continue to put pressure on Frankfurt, who are in third place, and thus on the European competition.
