Zverev for the second time in Båstad
Zverev is only taking part in this event, which has been operating under the name Nordea Open since 2019, for the second time. The man from Hamburg has very good memories of the first appearance in 2015. As an 18-year-old at the time, he stormed into the semi-finals, only losing out there against Tommy Robredo in two sets.

Four semifinals
Since the comeback after a long injury break, Zverev has not yet succeeded in making the big hit, but at least the right-hander has reached a few again in the semifinals. It started at the Dubai 500 in early March. During the spring clay court season, the German picked up speed again, standing in the semi-finals of Geneva (250cc) and Roland Garros. Halle/Westphalia (lawn) followed as the third semi-final in a row. The former world number two is currently in 19th position in the ranking and is therefore Germany’s number 1, has long since left behind Jan-Lennard Struff (24th).

After the early exit in the third round of Wimbledon, Zverev already had enough time for recovery and training. To continue working on his return to form, the 26-year-old returns to the much-loved clay – the surface on which he has won three Masters titles and played three consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals.
