Review of the previous day
Another difficulty with regard to the king’s stage: All drivers will certainly still have heavy legs after yesterday’s tough and already legendary section from Albertville to the Col du Granon. Throughout the day, Team Jumbo-Visma, in the person of Jonas Vingegaard and Primož Roglič, successfully attacked Tadej Pogačar, who had been the overall leader up to that point. Although the Slovenian initially closed countless holes alone, his strength was finally used up on the final climb. Vingegaard stepped up and climbed to an easy win while Pogačar revealed unfamiliar weaknesses not seen in him in years.

The daily program
One thing is clear – today is guaranteed to be extremely spectacular! The riders will cover a total of 165.1 kilometers from Briançon to Alpe d`Huez, doing an unbelievable 65 kilometers of climbing with an altitude difference of 4750 meters. Right from the start, the summit of the Col du Galibier towers up once more in front of the peloton, before the Col de la Croix has to be crossed after the first rapid descent. Last but not least, the final climb with the mythical 21 hairpin bends up to Alpe d’Huez lurks. As usual, the cycling stars can look forward to tens of thousands of spectators on the serpentine there. Large gaps are to be expected again between the classification drivers on the steep ramps.
