Eberl, together with sports director Christoph Freund, bosses Jan-Christian Dreesen and Herbert Hainer as well as Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as “gray eminences” in the background, is supposed to close several construction sites. First of all, it is important to lure preferred coaching candidate Xabi Alonso or an equivalent alternative such as Zinedine Zidane to Munich. Then Eberl, supported by a squad planner like his long-time Gladbach confidant Steffen Korell, has to rebuild the partly overpaid and outplayed team.
