The Public Prosecution Service believes it has a round case against the duo. In the car, among other things, the murder weapon (a converted alarm pistol) was found, and a cartridge holder with DNA of Rotterdammer G. (22), the suspected shooter. A smartphone was also found in the car, which contained extremely rudely worded messages about the murder. There was communication with a hitherto unnamed person who is said to have controlled the pair. The detective is still investigating his role.
According to the justice system, Kamil E. (36) from Maurik has conducted preliminary reconnaissance in the vicinity of the attack. De Vries was walking from the RTL Boulevard studio, where he had just finished a performance, to his car in a parking garage in Lange Leidsedwarsstraat when he was shot at close range. He was hit in the head. The murder sparked a nationwide shockwave and made international news.
Relatives
On Tuesday, the court will discuss the file and relatives of De Vries will have their say. According to the current planning, the Public Prosecution Service will also issue the punishment demands on Tuesday. On June 15, the second day of the trial, the pleas of the lawyers of the suspects are on the program, among other things.
Justice assumes that the murder of De Vries is related to his role as adviser and confidant of Nabil B., the key witness in the Marengo liquidation process, around the main suspect Ridouan Taghi. In 2018, B.’s brother Reduan was shot dead, in 2019 his lawyer Derk Wiersum. The investigation into the originators of these murders is still ongoing. The executors have been caught and tried. The Wiersum case is still on appeal.
