LIVE SOON: Amsterdam will go big with the 26th Pride celebration

From today, Amsterdam will again be completely dominated by Pride for nine days. After two small-scale celebrations, the organization is now going big with about 300 events throughout the city, with the theme: My Gender, My Pride.

Pride Amsterdam is a festival to celebrate that you can be who you are and love who you want. “LGBTQI+ people set the standard in the capital for nine days,” the organization said on its website.

This year, Pride Amsterdam will take place for the 26th time from 30 July to 7 August. The event kicks off with the Pride Walk, organized by the Homomonument Foundation.

Pride Walk

“The theme of the Pride Walk this year is ‘Nobody is free, until we are all free’ & ‘Queer liberation not rainbow capatalism’. It’s about equality for everyone,” organizer Daan Smeelen told AT5.

The protest march starts with a demonstration on Dam Square at 11 am. From 12.00 the procession leaves for the Vondelpark.

The annual highlight is the Canal Parade on August 6, the world-famous boat parade with a colorful procession of 80 boats and hundreds of thousands of visitors.

AT5 will join you today from Dam Square to Vondelpark. Watch the live stream here:
