For the Reds (yes, Nottingham also has that nickname) it’s definitely a very special encounter. Not just because the stakes are high, but because it’s a rehash of an old rivalry in English professional football. The club now playing in the Championship (ninth place) was one of Liverpool’s closest competitors in the late 1970s. But this didn’t last long and so the careers of the two clubs have differed quite significantly in recent years. Forest are unbeaten in seven league games (four wins, three draws) and, with their own fans behind them, are hoping for another magical cup night.
