LIVE. Riots in Nanterre spread to Lille and Marseille – Mother of Nahel: “I am targeting that one officer, not the police”

The white march in Nanterre in honor of Nahel, the 17-year-old boy who was shot dead by a police officer, has gone off the rails. Rioters looted and destroyed vehicles. During a three-hour cat-and-mouse game, officers were pelted with Molotov cocktails and other projectiles. At least fifteen runaways were arrested. After three hours of relative calm, the riots flared up again when a bank was set on fire. Mounia, the victim’s mother, played a prominent role before the chaos erupted. In an interview, she indicated that she was only targeting “that one agent”. The officer in question has been charged with voluntary manslaughter and is in custody. In the course of the evening it is also restless in cities such as Lille and Marseille.
