The fierce forest fires on the Greek island of Rhodes continue to rage. At least 19,000 tourists had already been evacuated to safer places on the island, including at least seventy Belgians who were on holiday with travel organization TUI and about ninety Belgians who booked a trip with Sunweb. Sunweb, Corendon and TUI have decided “for safety reasons” to cancel all flights in the coming days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is closely monitoring the situation and advises Belgians on Rhodes to follow the advice of the local authorities.
