At times I enjoy AZ’s game. Now another nice combination on the edge of the penalty area with Jordy Clasie and Myron van Brederode, but Clasie’s cross ultimately does not reach a teammate and only results in a corner for the home club.

Dani de Wit seems to score his second goal of the match. After a good run, he heads in after a nice deep pass from Sven Mijnans, but he was narrowly offside and so the party does not continue. De Wit still needs injury treatment, because he collided hard with Sparta goalkeeper Nick Olij who came out of his goal.
De Wit can continue, but for the time being he still has one goal and one assist.

After four seconds of extra time, the first half is over. AZ was clearly better and that resulted in two goals, which were scored within a minute of each other. Dani de Wit and Vangelis Pavlidis scored after nice attacks from the home team. Sparta could offer little or nothing in return from an offensive point of view.

Koki Sait’s shot goes wide
After a failed bicycle kick by Pelle Clement and a failed acceptance by Arno Verschueren, the ball ends up at the feet of Koki Saito on the left flank. The agile Japanese moves in and tries to find the far corner with his right, but his shot goes a few meters wide.
It is not yet convincing what Sparta showed in the first half hour, this was actually only the first attack by the visitors from Rotterdam.
