Bustle on roads increases due to train strike: 600 kilometers of traffic jam
Tuesday’s NS strike begins to have an impact on road traffic. Around 8 a.m. there is approximately 600 kilometers of traffic jams on the Dutch roads, where that is normally around 450 kilometers around that time, an employee of the ANWB traffic information announces. “It is about the daily traffic jams where more congestion have arisen, because there is more supply,” he says.
The ANWB had already expected the extra crowds on the road, because the NS train traffic throughout the country is stopped due to a strike by NS staff in the West and North-West regions. Earlier, the Traffic Information Service saw a “fairly normal Tuesday morning” on the road, but now that image is changing.
Especially in Noord-Holland it is busier than normal, according to the ANWB. Some accidents also happened there.
The A13 from Rotterdam to The Hague is now open again. The road was partly closed due to an investigation into a possible shooting incident.
