The difference could not be greater: the still winless Telstar will travel today with the red lantern hanging from the bus to Kerkrade for the meeting with leader Roda JC. You can hear from 7 p.m. on NH Radio whether the residents of Velsen can surprise in Kerkrade.
Never before did Telstar start the competition with five defeats. But numbers don’t say everything. In four of the five losses, the White Lions lost by one goal. In three matches Telstar finished the battle with one man less due to a red card. That could be quality or cleverness, but with a little more fortune, coach Mike Snoei’s team could have been a little less miserable.
Mees Kaandorp is missing due to a suspension this evening. In addition, a number of players are not (fully) fit. Snoei must be particularly careful with newcomers Alex Plat, Denzell Gravenberch and Robin Polley, because they are behind the rest of the selection that has been in training since the end of June.
Walid Ould-Chikh
Roda JC got off to a good start, with Volendam mercenary Walid Ould-Chikh in particular asserting himself. He scored three times. Former Telstar player Orhan Džepar made his first minutes for Roda in the last league match against NAC Breda (3-1 win). The previous two seasons he played for MVV Maastricht.

Roda JC – Telstar starts at 8 p.m. You will receive the commentary from Frank van der Meijden.
Jong AZ returns from Argentina
Also a big contrast in Wijdewormer. Trainer Jan Sierksma and his promising team will play against FC Eindhoven at the Kalverhoek sports park. Six days ago he was in Buenos Aires with a large number of these youngsters for the World Cup match against Boca Juniors. A final in the Intercontinental Cup Under 20 years after a 1-1 draw was lost on penalties.
Now in the regular competition FC Eindhoven awaits, which is still undefeated with two wins and one draw. Two weeks ago, the Brabanders defeated Telstar 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Thomas Oude Kotte. Kick-off will also take place in Wijdewormer at 8 p.m. Stephan Brandhorst does the match report.
